“Deadly Class” Recap: Good Grief
This week’s “Deadly Class” episode, “The Clampdown,” does what many an episode of “Deadly Class” has done: divide our characters and create drama, while also dealing with some comedy. As Master Lin locks down the campus to solve the murders of Chico and Yukio, Saya faces pressure to deal with Maria. Marcus is driven to his breaking point, while Petra proposes a unique opportunity to Billy and Lex.
No One Likes a Tattle Tale | First up, Shad goes to see Gao and deliver her Marcus’s journal. Why? Turns out Shad has been sniffing through Marcus’s stuff. Hmm. Back at King’s Dominion, Chico’s brother, Juan, seems to believe that Saya is responsible for Chico’s death and was working with the recently deceased Yukio, whom Maria framed. Saya, meanwhile, deals with a fellow yakuza member, who we’ve literally never seen before and is so unimportant, the show doesn’t even tell us her name. The only important thing about her is that she correctly believes that Maria killed Yukio.

Divided We Fall | After Maria distracts Saya so Juan can unsuccessfully try to kill her, Lin locks everyone in their rooms until he can figure out who killed Chico and Yukio.
Maria and Juan end up locked up with Brandy, who plants seeds of doubt in Maria’s confidence that Saya will not try to retaliate, while No Name Girl- seriously, who are you?- tries to get Saya to kill Maria.
Marcus breaks out of his room and tries to tell Saya that Maria killed Yukio, but he is busted by Lin and chained to a chair, being forced to watch home movies of his parents until he confesses what really happened with Chico. While that’s going on, as the students are released from their rooms for food, Saya and Maria have a fight and for some reason, only Maria gets reprimanded by Gao and is locked up herself.
The Truth Will Set You Free | On a lighter and wonderfully awkward note, Billy, Lex and Petra are locked up together and Petra tries to settle the boys’ love for her by suggesting that they have a threesome. By the time the boys finally, and I mean finally, agree to go the distance, the lockdown ends and Petra walks out without having kissed either of them.
Lin threatens to expel Marcus from the school if he continues to lie about Chico’s death, forcing Marcus to spill the truth about Vegas. But Lin tells Chico’s father that it was Yukio who killed Chico and that his death was avenged. Then, Mystery Yakuza Chick- WHO ARE YOU???- tries to finish off Maria, but Saya stops her and cuts Maria loose. After the chaos, Viktor and Brandy go to Gao, wishing to discuss Marcus and the troubling influence he’s had on the others. The gang gathers on the rooftop, where Marcus confesses to Maria the Chester situation and that they need to deal with him soon.
