“Deadly Class” Recap: The Psychopath Dilemma

This week on “Deadly Class'” latest episode, “Rise Above,” Maria faces rising pressure to solve Chico’s murder, while Marcus reveals his past to Saya. Facing the problem of Chester revealing the truth, Marcus and Saya make an uneasy alliance.

The Sunset Boys Home Massacre | This week’s comic book illustrated backstory is the full story of what happened at the Sunset Boys Home: Marcus and the other boys were all being abused and Marcus planned to escape and call the police on the establishment to expose their misdeeds. But in his escape effort, Marcus injured his roommate Chester, who responded by murdering all the boys and burning down the home, which Marcus got blamed for.

Vendetta | In present day, Marcus enlists Saya and Billy to free one of the Dominion’s teachers, known as the Scorpio Slasher (“Clockstoppers'” French Stewart), a notorious serial killer. Meanwhile, Maria is pressured by Chico’s father to find his killer, and he promises to hold Master Lin responsible if she doesn’t deliver. Gao seems to doubt Lin’s grief over his supposedly dead daughter, Naya, which is confirmed when Gao discovers Lin walking Naya home from her violin lessons and promises to see her soon.

On the Hunt | The Slasher promises to take Marcus and company to Chester’s location- after some carnitas and ice cream, of course. Chester, meanwhile, is having talks with Chico’s severed head and enlisting his cousins to kill more people to increase his serial killer reputation. The Slasher leads Marcus, Saya and Billy to Chester attacking an animal rescue shelter and disembowels one of Chester’s friends- only to let Chester get away. So what was the point of bringing him along??? Maria, on the other hand, gets a lot more done this week: She murders Yukio, a corrupt yakuza member and pins Chico’s death on him, clearing her name.
