In the Supergirl episode “Worlds Finest,” Barry Allen arrives from another dimension to help Supergirl battle the escaped Livewire, who has teamed up with Siobhan, now called the Silver Banshee.
Well, Siobhan finally got a point in the show. It’s unusual for “Supergirl” to set up a villain several episodes in advance, but the fact that Siobhan was only here for a one episode villain team up was a bit underwhelming for a character given such a huge amount of screen time. That, and the explanation of her powers was rushed to the point that I still don’t know what that was about.
But who cares, The Flash is here! Grant Gustin’s interactions with our heroes was fun and this episode crammed in tons of callbacks to “The Flash” for fans. Seeing Supergirl and The Flash use their powers together was super fun and the show also picked two fun villains for them to team up against. Livewire made a return and her powers are still super creative, especially when she faced off against Flash.
The rest of the episode was… well, The Flash really took over this week. Super girl finally earned the trust of the city back, in scene reminiscent of “Spider-Man 2” and Kara and James finally kissed, only to be perfectly timed with Non activating Myriad, which turns National City into mind controlled minions, setting up the last two episodes.
Side Note: Extremely meta joke from Grant: “You look like the cast of a CW show.”
“Worlds Finest,” while not the most progressive episode- Alex and J’onn didn’t even show up- was a fun detour before the final act of the season. Bring on the finale!
