The CW’s new Archie comic-inspired series “Riverdale” just landed a new star.

Molly Ringwald of “The Breakfast Club” fame has been cast as Archie’s mother Mary Andrews in a recurring guest role. Her character, who returns to Riverdale for the Homecoming dance, will appear n episodes 10 and 11.

Ringwald was a major star in 80s teen films such as “Sixteen Candles” and “Pretty in Pink.” She also starred on the ABC Family series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”
“Riverdale” premieres in 2017 on The CW.
