If you know anything about us here at OMFGTV, you know we love great supernatural dramas. The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals is no exception! The compelling storylines, the intense drama and the gorgeous cast make it a weekly must watch on our schedule.
With all the craziness that went down on the last season of the Julie Plec-created series, we’re thirsty for details on what we can expect come Season 3. Warner Bros. TV invited us to speak with the cast at the San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, and below we’ve included the best of all the bloody scoop!
DAVINA’s NEW ROLE | The pretty, little witch has a lot of responsibility on her end now. “This season you’re going to really see her stepping up to the plate,” Danielle Campbell says. “She’s kind of going to be battling her responsibility to her coven and then also to her heart which she is fighting for.”
Davina’s hatred for the Mikaelson’s are at an all-time high and we’ll see her form plans in which to take them down. Executing those plans should be a breeze for who Campbell is calling the “Queen of Witches (right now).”
“She has a lot of power and all the ancestors are giving her that much more. As of right now, she’s at the highest she’s been. She’s always been a very powerful witch, that’s why she was chosen for the Harvest. But now that’s taken into a completely different level and having all the ancestors behind her is kind of a different aspect that it’s giving off as well.”
IN LOVE WITH A MONSTER | This season, Camille realizes she will need to set some boundaries with the Mikaelson family — specifically Klaus. “In the last episode, it turns out she has complicated feelings for a monster,” Leah Pipes says. “She has really complicated feelings for a vampire she knows is dangerous. As a psychologist, she looks at this vampire and says, ‘I know that you are someone that I can help and I can save, but also I may fail. And if I fail, who knows what kind of danger I’m in, and everyone else around you are in constant danger.”
“But she does see the good in him,” she adds. “She does have other feelings that are beyond something you would understand. Maybe she just likes his pheromones; I don’t know. She likes him.”
“I also think they have a lot in common just as people,” Pipes says of Camille and Klaus’ brother Elijah (Daniel Gilles). “I think they’re too similar. There are a lot of similarities to their characters. But I love doing scenes with Daniel, so whatever they want to do there, I’m totally fine with. I wouldn’t mind kissing him.”
PASSION ON PAUSE | Phoebe Tonkin says she doesn’t think her character, Hayley Marshall, and Klaus will be romantic together right now at least in the immediate next few months. However, “that’s definitely not something that’s been entirely closed off,” Tonkin says, “but I think right now Hayley is really leaning on Elijah because she only has one day out of the month that she’s human and her connection to the real world is through Elijah because he comes once a month to visit her tell her what’s been happening, and to bring the most important thing to Hayley which is baby Hope to see her mom. Right now the only romantic relationship Hayley has is with her husband Jackson. But with this show you never know.”
“All Hayley’s ever wanted in her life is family and she has family now in Hope, so all she needs to do is protect her. And anything else that comes along whether it’s Elijah, Jackson, or Klaus, it’s a bonus.”
LONELY KING OF THE CASTLE | Joseph Morgan’s Klaus was alone, as we saw in the end of season two after alienating all of his friends and family. “He’s done some pretty unforgivable things,” Morgan says. “That’s where we find him at the beginning of season 3 trying to reconcile with his brother, especially, after toasting his girlfriend and cursing the woman he’s in love with. I don’t know if he’s going to be able to reunite them to put some strength back in that bond. It’s going to be difficult for him. so that’s where we find him.”
THE SETTLERS | Joseph says that he doesn’t see a happy, married life for his character anytime soon. “The truth is I don’t now if it’s going to happen. Regardless, I don’t think Klaus should settle down with anyone. That would be the end of The Originas; there’s no drama there. Whatever storyline [the writers] choose to pursue, I hope it remains dramatic and Klaus remains in the eye of the hurricane.”
The Originals Season 3 premieres Thursday, October 8, on The CW.
