When The CW first announced it had acquired UK series Killer Camp we were very excited! It’s been a while since a whodunnit-type show had been on the air. When details were released that the five-episode first season would involve 11 British strangers and one would be killed off each night, we tried doing the math.
Eleven campers, one killer, five episodes, one death each night. It didn’t really add up. We were hoping for nine deaths leaving the last two campers as the killer and the winner. Instead, Killer Camp delivers two killers (awesome!) and five deaths so far.
Heading into the final episode of the season, the campers that remain are Holly, Sian, Carl, Sam, Jacques, and Eleanor. We have our fingers crossed that the finale can give us at least two more campy murders! Until then, check out our list of murders from the season which we’ve ranked from worst to best.
5) BLAST OFF | Feargal’s death was the first and most important one of the season. It immediately let the campers know that Camp Pleasant and the show that they are on is not at all what they were thinking it to be. The moment set the tone of the show and had the campers laughing and chanting to feeling uneasy and wondering what the hell is going on. Though his death was important, it wasn’t a very creative one. Fun Fact: Since Feargal had to die very early on, he wasn’t actually a contestant on the show. He was actually one of the production assistants!
4) HAMMER TIME | In episode 3, Rob, the film nerd was ousted by his fellow campers in a landslide, and after being whisked away by the sheriff, subsequently murdered by Bruce. Why would Bruce kill the killer? Because a second(!) killer in the group instructed him to do so! Bruce pulls our Rob from the cop car and proceeds to bash his face with a hammer until it’s mush. We don’t get to see any of it except some splash of blood hitting the side of the car. We get it — Bruce is a handyman, so he uses a hammer. But certainly, he has other tools at his disposal that would do the job to much more satisfaction?
3) HEADS UP | Poor Nurry Lee. As the first real contestant to leave the show, it was sad to see her go, but her death was quite a fun one. While on a segway, she rides through some barbed wire tied between two trees set up by Bruce, which sees her head being sliced right off and flying through the air. Some nice blood squirts shoot out her neck as the rest of her body continue riding along the pathway on the segway.
2) HEAD TO HEAD | If you don’t get why we’ve called this death “Head to Head,” you’re probably too young. Prior to hot Warren’s unfortunate death, he comes upon a clearing in the woods where he discovers a statue of a Greek god representing fertility. It’s also worth mentioning that the statue is well endowed. Below the statue, the words “Phallus Impallus” is displayed. Unfortunately, not long after admiring the work of art, the statue’s penis flies off and impales Warren’s head through his left eye! OUCH! The whole scenario is random but quite awesome. (Check out the uncensored photo above!)
1) LIGHT IT UP | Sure, you can go for a dip in Camp Meadow, but nothing beats relaxing in a hot tub. Rosie is treated to a spa-like experience (her final experience ever) deep in the woods, complete with a beautiful starry sky, some twinkling lights, and of course some bubbly. After she gets a little too comfortable, Bruce shows up with a giant boombox (How 80’s!) and dunks it in the hot tub causing electric shocks in the tub and sparks shooting and flying everywhere around them until the lights go out and the tub is a dark red from Rosie’s blood. This is our favorite because of the juxtaposition of the beautiful setting and her tragic murder. Hopefully, Rosie had enough booze in her that she didn’t have to suffer much.
