The CW’s latest Arrowverse adventure, Batwoman, is in full swing and we are loving it! OMFGTV was able to chat with the man behind Chuck Dodgson, Brendon Zub (“Charmed,” “The 100”), to get all the details on his character and his antics.
When viewers were first introduced to Chuck Dodgson in the Batwoman series’ opener, he seemed like an alright guy, but it was quickly revealed that he’s in a relationship with Gotham’s latest villain, Alice, and our view of him quickly changes. “In the pilot he’s found out to be a double agent and working for Alice all along.” Zub even says that Dodgson “likes to steer clear of all the Gotham good stuff and go to the bad side.”
As with many people who play villainous characters, Zub really enjoys playing a character that’s not so good. “It’s been fun being revealed as Alice’s boyfriend in the series.” Brendon even teases that later in the season we may even see “the reasons Dodgson went the way he did.”
One of the most exciting characters in the series is Alice, played by the talented Rachel Skarsten. Brendon had nothing but great things to say about working with his on-screen girlfriend. “Rachel is a dream to work with. We got along great right away.”

Brendon was familiar with Skarsten’s work in Reign and thought she was fantastic in that and was very excited to work with her. He also feels Skarsten’s Alice really brings balance to the whole show, and even goes so far to say that he thinks “she really carried the show.”
Chuck begins the series as a high ranking member of the Crow security team, which seems to be a far cry from where he is now. Was Chuck capable of such awful things on his own, or was it Alice who drew it out of him? “I think there’s definitely an influence there, especially with the love aspect of it,” Zub says.
“People can have the best of intentions, and you might find out later in the season that Dodgson does have the best intentions at heart. Sometimes you might share an end goal, but the means to get there might be slightly different. And as the season progresses you might find out how people met or paths crossed and how they influenced each other.”
The last we saw of Chuck, he wasn’t doing so hot. He’s a prisoner of Kate Kane and though Alice had an opportunity to get him back, she couldn’t go 24 hours without killing. So where’s that leave Dodgson? “Let’s just say there’ll be some more interactions with the cast later on.”
One thing Zub wants people to know about Chuck Dodgson is, “he’s definitely a character super strong in principal and goal, but flexible on how to get there.” Brendon also doesn’t want people to forget about him too much and says Dodgson pops up “here and there” throughout the season.
Zub is officially a part of the DC Universe, and he’s pretty excited about it, but this is not his first time on a DC set. Brendon Zub actually got to double Stephen Amell in Arrow! “A couple years ago I doubled him in the crossover episode where he had to appear with himself.” Brendon teased that he might be doing something like that again soon.
We will continue to see Zub on our screens throughout this season of Batwoman, but if that’s not enough you can catch his new movie, The Past Never Dies, coming soon!
Batwoman airs Sundays at 8pm on The CW.
