Our The 100 interview series continues with more of our chat with the very beautiful and very awesome Tasya Teles. In Part 3 of our interview, Teles delves deeper into her Echo character, speaks briefly about the costumes, and more.
Tasya explains that Echo is not the easiest character to play and opens up about the struggles of playing such a strong and stoic character. “I always want people to mediate and come together,” she tells us, “so because Echo is very loyal and she doesn’t trust the negotiation aspect with Skaikru, it was hard for me to keep her from being a one-note, evil character.”
Making sure Echo had many layers and wanting to convey to the audience and make them understand why she makes the decisions she does was really important to Tasya. This was among the other struggles when portraying the Ice Nation Royal Guard.
“Her stillness is really difficult, too,” Teles muses. The Canadian-born actress is a physical person who likes to act on impulse, but Echo is quite the opposite. “She’s very still and regal. She’s always watching and scanning people. There’s not a moment where she’s not taking in information.”

“I prefer to be in a bikini any day,” she reveals. “Hanging out with Bellamy in our underwear was fun; I’ll take that over being covered in fur! But what they designed for Echo [this season] is so powerful. I felt very strong, whereas with the gauze bikini I was like ‘Help me.'”
