It’s been a long nine months since we last saw Clarke and the gang on The CW’s hit sci-fi series The 100. With the start of Season 3 just a little over a month away, the network has made available online the first promo for the new chapter.
Here’s three things that stood out from the 20-second spot:
• Clarke has darker hair! Since “she’s being hunted by everyone,” is this new change part of a disguise to throw off her hunters?
• Jasper is crying! No!!! When Jasper cries, we cry! Luckily, he has Octavia’s shoulder to cry on. But still!
• There’s a new logo! Anyone liking the new, shiny logo? We kind of dig it, but miss the rugged look of the previous version.
If the promo spot below is too short for ya, not to worry! Creator and Executive Producer Jason Rothenberg says a full trailer will drop on Monday. The full trailer is expected to be released online, likely on The CW’s official website and YouTube channel, and possibly a TV-friendly, shortened version (20-30 sec) could start airing that night.
In Season 3, The 100 picks up three months later. The war is over. The battle against Mount Weather has been won. The prisoners have returned home to a world seemingly at peace, but can they find peace within themselves after what they had to do to escape? And is there more to life than just surviving?
Unfortunately, their newfound sense of normalcy will be short-lived, and their lives will be changed forever, as threats both old and new test their loyalties, push them past their limits, and make them question what it truly means to be human. First, they fought to survive. Then, they fought for their friends. Now, they will fight for the human race.
The 100 Season 3 premieres Thursday, January 21, at 9pm on The CW.
