One of the biggest twists on The CW’s Riverdale was the revelation that rivals Cheryl Blossom and Betty Cooper are related — third cousins, to be exact.
Going into the sophmore season of the subversive drama, OMFGTV spoke with the Betty herself, Lili Reinhart, to see if more of their family ties will be explored.
“I think we definitely touch upon that,” Reinhart tells us, “but at this point, honestly, there’s so much going on in her world and everyone’s world and there’s so much storyline and plot that it’s not a main focus right away.”

The expanded Season 2, commencing this fall, will consist of a full 22-episode season, giving the series some opportunity to delve into that a little further, but Reinhart shares that if that subject is returned, it may not be until the latter half ot the season.
“The first half of the season, right off the bat, they’re dealing with Fred being shot, helping their friend Archie, Betty’s dealing with her relationship problems,” she explains. “It’s on the backburner a little bit for her but I think it is addressed at some point.”
