“Cloak & Dagger” Recap: Where Did All the Good People Go?
In its three episodes so far, “Cloak & Dagger” has already tackled rape, alcohol and drug use and police violence. What’s next for “Call/Response”? Suicide awareness. That’s right: We’re going there. Tandy and Tyrone finally talk it out and discover the limits of their powers, while Tandy confesses a dark secret. Tyrone’s father brings his son into a long standing tradition, while Tandy tries to read Greg, her mother’s new boyfriend.
Push/Pull | This episode has an interesting structure, as it keeps cutting the fateful church encounter between Tyrone and Tandy with their individual storylines with their family members- Tyrone with his father and Tandy with her mother. At the church, Tandy and Tyrone swap life stories and discover that their powers make it so that they can’t touch each other without blowing each other across the room.

A Standup Guy | Tandy returns to her mother’s house and has a talk with Greg, the lawyer who is handling the Roxxon case involving whether or not her father was responsible for the rig’s explosion. Greg offers Tandy a job helping him work the case and she touches Greg’s hand to see his hopes and sees him truly wanting to help Tandy and her mother. Unfortunately, just as Tandy tells her mom that Greg is a great guy, Melissa reveals that she’s already dumped him. When Tandy goes to Greg’s office, she sees a mystery woman execute him and burn down his office.
A Really Good Cloak | Tyrone gets into an argument with his father, who takes Tyrone to the Redhawk clan in New Orleans to show Tyrone the hard work the clan is doing to make their own robes for Mardi Gras. Tyrone finds a black cloak which belonged to his brother and offers to finish it, but his father says no.
Back in the church, Tandy confesses to Tyrone that she’s been having suicidal thoughts, which angers Tyrone because she’s thinking about throwing her life away. Tandy snaps right back at Tyrone, saying that he is just as messed up as she is and Tyrone storms out. The next morning, Tandy goes to the docks with a rope around her ankle and jumps into the water, but uses one of her daggers to cut herself free. As Tyrone goes to warn O’Reilly about Tandy’s suicidal thoughts, Tandy herself breaks into the ruins of Greg’s office and takes his files on the Roxxon case. The episode ends by displaying the suicide hotline.
