Cirque du Soleil’s iconic Big Top has returned to the Pacific Northwest. Just one year after bringing its touring production KOOZA to Redmond, Washington, the company is once again at King County’s Marymoor Park, this time debuting its newest creation, ECHO.

Described as a story of connection, intention, and the bond between humans and the animal kingdom, ECHO follows Future and her best friend Ewai as they encounter an enigmatic cube, setting in motion a journey of life, discovery, hope, and empathy. As the story unfolds, they quickly learn how their actions have the power to shape the world around them.

“Seattle audiences are curious, creative, and deeply connected to nature, which makes ECHO a natural fit for this market,” Kevin Albert, a spokesperson for Cirque du Soleil, tells PopWire in an exclusive interview. “The show explores themes of balance, connection, and our relationship with the world around us; ideas that strongly resonate in the Pacific Northwest.

“Visually, ECHO blends powerful imagery with organic elements and a sense of transformation that mirrors the region’s innovative spirit and appreciation for both art and the environment. Seattle audiences tend to lean into experiences that are thoughtful as much as they are spectacular, and ECHO offers both.”

With KOOZA still fresh in the minds of Seattle and Redmond audiences, Albert explained how ECHO distinguishes itself not only from that production, but also from other Cirque du Soleil shows currently touring worldwide.

“ECHO is a more contemporary Cirque du Soleil creation,” he says. “While KOOZA celebrated classic circus traditions with bold colors and high-energy spectacle, ECHO leans into storytelling, emotional depth, and visual poetry.

“It blends acrobatics, music, and stagecraft into a narrative that feels very current; almost cinematic. The show invites audiences to reflect as much as it invites them to be amazed, which gives it a very unique tone within the Cirque repertoire.”

Ahead of its early February premiere, PopWire had the opportunity to tour the site and step inside the Big Top, where two acts — juggling (performed by a backup juggler) and slack wire — rehearsed simultaneously on stage.

Even without full production elements, the level of artistry and technical precision on display was remarkable. With the addition of theatrical lighting, intricately designed costumes, striking makeup, and beautifully performed live music, these acts are elevated even further, transforming into truly magical moments.

Cirque du Soleil has long demonstrated its expertise in reimagining traditional circus disciplines — such as juggling, slack wire, and Icarian Games (another featured act in ECHO) — and presenting them at an unparalleled level. It is a standard audiences have come to expect from the brand, and ECHO continues that legacy.

No Cirque du Soleil production feels complete without an aerial element. While many of the company’s shows feature one or two such acts, ECHO includes several — each seamlessly integrated into the narrative. Beyond their technical mastery and visual spectacle, these performances serve a deeper storytelling purpose.

“[The aerial acts] represent ideas like trust, transformation, vulnerability, and balance,” Albert says. “When performers are suspended high above the stage, the audience feels both the risk and the beauty of those moments. We hope people experience awe, yes, but also a sense of connection; to the performers, to one another, and to the themes of resilience and harmony that run throughout the show.”

PopWire attended a front-row performance of ECHO and was left genuinely impressed. Cirque du Soleil’s latest production is a must-see experience. Over the course of more than two hours, the show delivers awe-inspiring, dazzling, and truly jaw-dropping moments.

A contortion act elicited audible gasps, while an intense clown performance kept the audience on edge — proving that even comedic interludes can carry dramatic weight. ECHO succeeds on every level. Its sweeping visual narrative, conveyed through high-precision acrobatics and refined artistry, delivers a message that is emotional, magical, deeply resonant and powerful.

“People often come expecting spectacle; and they’ll absolutely get that,” Kevin Albert says, “but many leave talking about how the show made them feel. That emotional connection is one of ECHO’s greatest surprises.”

Cirque du Soleil’s ECHO runs through March 22 at King County’s Marymoor Park. Tickets and more information can be found on CirqueduSoleil.com.
