Arrow Preview: Chemistry

arrow-208-scientist-preview-pagePart 1 of Arrow‘s mid-season finale airs tomorrow night, which will introduce fans to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) who is set to star in the potential spin-off, The Flash.

OMFGtv had the opportunity to screen the episode in advance and all we can say is “WOW!” The episode, titled “The Scientist,” is one of the top best episodes of the series so far and we can’t wait for you to watch it!

Below we’ve included a few non-spoilery bits about the episode and they all surround Mr. Allen.

RUNNING LATE | We get our first glimpse of Barry Allen as he is de-boarding a train. Once his feet is on the ground, he takes a look at his watch. Two train rides and one cab ride later he meets up with Oliver (Stephen Amell), Diggle (David Ramsey), and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). “Sorry I’m late,” he tells them. It’s a cute introduction knowing the future superhero he will eventually become.

CHEMISTRY | Sorry, Olicity fans, but after watching “The Scientist,” there’s a whole new pair we’re just dying to ship. From the moment Felicity meets Barry, it looks like she’s formed a liking towards him. Not only do the two look just absolutely adorable together, but they both share an equal amount of smarts! The two just ooze chemistry from the start!

FASCINATION | While doing some detective work for a case, Barry reveals his fascination and slight obsession of the vigilante to Felicity. He even shares some of his suggestions he would give to the man under the hood about why green shouldn’t be his color of choice and what type of arrows he should be using instead, all while Felicity plays indifferent. “I don’t give the vigilante much thought.”

PLUS ONE | Near the halfway mark of the episode is an adorable scene between Felicity and Barry, which is punctuated by Blake Neely’s score. There is such a cute exchange in this scene and you can tell Felicity is so smitten. Felicity invites him to be her plus one to a party. He accepts, as long as he doesn’t need to dance.

DECEPTION | Oliver becomes suspicious that Barry is not being honest with them and that there’s more to him than he’s letting on. He asks Diggle find out more info on the Central City police scientist and he returns with a warning: “He’s not who he says he is.” Dun dun dun!

Memorable Quotes
  • Detective Lance (Paul Blackthorne) to Barry: “Who the hell are you?” Oliver: “And do your parents know that you’re here?”
  • Barry about Arrow’s arrows: “If he switched to an aluminum carbon composite, he would have far better penetration.” Felicity: “Maybe he thinks he penetrates just fine.”
  • Oliver about Barry: “FYI — they will card him at the bar.”

Overall, it was a very enjoyable episode and we can’t wait to see what’s next. Oh, one last thing: THE LAST 60 SECONDS IS CRAZY!

Arrow “The Scientist” airs Wednesday, December 4, at 8pm on The CW.
