The CW’s New Zombie Series Lands a Cheerleader.
Hellcats grad Aly Michalka is returning to The CW in Rob Thomas’ (Veronica Mars) new zombie drama, iZombie, reports TVLine.
Michalka, whose recent television credits also include stints on Two and a Half Men and Breaking In, replaces Alexandra Krosney (Last Man Standing) in the role of Peyton, roommate and BFF of Rose McIver’s Liv.
The casting change was one of the reasons why plans for an iZombie pilot screening were scrapped at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, as reshoots were still being done at that time.
Michalka joins McIver, David Anders (Once Upon a Time, Alias), Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill), Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings), Nora Dunn (Entourage), and Rahul Kohli
A med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head. Based on the characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.
iZombie premieres midseason on The CW.
