Aloha Vet Sneak Peek: Gilbert’s Goats

Aloha Vet

Whether he’s swimming with sharks or trying to extract a cracked tooth from a horse, one thing is for sure — there is never a dull moment for the Aloha Vet‘s Dr. Scott Sims. And the fact that this all takes place in the beautiful state of Hawaii is just the icing on the cake.

Dr. Scott Sims is one of Hawaii’s best-kept local secrets. Not your typical veterinarian, he treats both wild and domestic animals, and when islanders need help with their pets and livestock, he’s the one they call. Some clients live in hard-to-reach locations, but if an animal needs help, Dr. Sims always finds a way to get there, even if he has to walk, ride a horse, drive an ATV, fly a plane or swim. It’s a wild job that’s an adventure every day.

In the sneak peek below for the episode “Hog Wild” airing Saturday, April 18, Dr. Sims, with the help of his assistants, herd a pack of goats for their routine checkup including a trimming of their hooves and vaccinations. But they have to be quick on their feet because these unruly goats are agile and VERY fast.

Also embedded is an “Aloha Extra” where Dr. Sims learns the proper way to greet a monkey (Hint: It involves exchanging urine!). And lastly, if bugs don’t make you squeamish, find out what exactly “monkey popcorn” is made out of!

Aloha Vet” airs Saturdays at 9 PM ET/PT on Nat Geo WILD.
