This week’s “Agents of SHIELD” tees up the final three episodes of the series and pays tribute to a late friend. In “Stolen,” Nathaniel Malick recruits an old enemy of SHIELD to help him seize control of the Inhumans, while the team must align with Jiaying to save them.
A Promise to Keep | First up, James Paxton, son of the late Bill Paxton, arrives to play a young John Garrett, who Nathaniel Malick brings to Afterlife to join him and Korra, who have taken the Inhumans there hostage, draining their powers into HYDRA soldiers. Back at the Lighthouse, team SHIELD sets up shop and Daisy confronts Simmons about her tears after the removal of Diana in last week’s episode, which of course, Simmons doesn’t remember.
Soon after, Jiaying and Gordon teleport into the Lighthouse, asking the team for help with saving the citizens of Afterlife, during which Jiaying drops the bombshell about her other daughter to Daisy. Daisy is shocked and also pieces together that in her timeline, Korra’s suicide was what drove Jiaying to meeting her father.

An Unstoppable Enemy | As Coulson, Mack and Yo-Yo accompany Gordon to Afterlife, Simmons floats the possibility to Deke that the reason the time drive in the Zephyr is no longer working is because Fitz isn’t alive in his time to fix it. Deke shoots this down immediately, but Simmons isn’t so sure.
Gordon teleports Coulson into Afterlife, but they are immediately caught by Malick, since he has rebuilt Sibyl and her future seeing ability. Malick transfers Gordon’s powers to Garrett and he teleports the two of them to go find and kill Jiaying. Speaking of, Sousa convinces Daisy that she should take the opportunity to get to know the good side of her mother.
Sticking the Landing | As Daisy has a heart to heart with Jiaying, Garrett and Malick teleport into the Lighthouse and Garrett fights May, while back at Afterlife, the weakened Gordon teleports Coulson to safety, but then dies. Mack and Yo-Yo arrive and free the captive Inhumans, but Malick confronts Daisy and Jiaying inside the Lighthouse, spilling the secret that Daisy is Jiaying’s future daughter.
Malick uses his own powers to knock out Daisy and Jiaying tries to stop him, but in a devastating twist, Malick snaps Jiaying’s neck in front of Daisy! To make matters worse, Garrett kidnaps Simmons and teleports onto the Zephyr and he leaves with Malick and the unsuspecting Deke as a stowaway. Coulson confronts Korra and knocks her out and takes her aboard the Quinjet as May informs him of what just happened. Aboard the Zephyr, Malick informs Simmons that he took her to find Fitz and kill him. Run Roh!
