Lou Diamond Phillips directs another fantastic episode of “Agents of SHIELD” that gives us some answers and some new questions in “The Other Thing.” Daisy and Simmons face a new threat in their quest to get Fitz home, while May gets to know Sarge and discovers his true intentions.
Out of Luck | Onboard the Zephyr, Daisy, Simmons, Piper, Davis and Enoch are surrounded by alien ships, manned by Atarah, an old flame of Enoch’s who informs him that their home planet was destroyed by a mysterious anomaly. She also has Fitz captive on one of her ships and threatens to kill him unless Enoch reveals to her how he sent team SHIELD forward in time. She wants to use time travel to spare their home world from destruction, but of course, they have no idea how they did it. Enoch, however, tells Atarah that Fitz could figure it out- if Simmons’s life is in mortal danger. Simmons voluntarily gives herself up to Atarah to work with Fitz to solve the problem and tells Daisy, Piper and Davis to go home, which they reluctantly do. When Enoch informs Fitz of what he’s done, Fitz is rightfully angry, but Enoch presses a button and floods the room with knockout gas.

Initiation | Back on Earth, Sarge has May captive in his truck and tries to sway her over to his mission, which Snowflake seems unnaturally excited about. Naturally, May doesn’t buy it, but Sarge locks her in a room with someone whom he immediately murders and hands her one of his knives. The dead guy comes back to life and May eventually kills him with the knife, after which Sarge explains that the parasites inside the people he’s killed are called the Shrike and they’ve been destroying every world they’ve come into contact with. He claims he’s been killing them for a hundred years and is after their leader, who is coming to Earth, and that the Shrike can overcharge with human energy, resulting in the crazy spikes that came out of the dead bodies.
The Imposter | At SHIELD HQ, Dr. Benson analyzes said spikes and they are of similar structure to the time traveling monoliths. Benson takes a Quinjet to the locations where the monoliths were found to try to unravel the mystery, as Daisy, Piper and Davis return to the base. Back with May and Sarge, May manages to not only break free, but incapacitate Sarge and Snowflake and bring them back to the base.
