“Agents of SHIELD” Recap: Chances Are

In what’s become an “Agents of SHIELD” tradition by this point, “Fear and Loathing on the Planet of Kitson” takes a detour from the main storyline for a fun hour that takes a few risks with the show’s style. Fitz and Enoch are forced to take refuge on the planet Kitson, where their luck quickly takes a bad turn. Simmons and Daisy set off to rescue Fitz, only to run into complications.

House of Games | Fitz and Enoch’s ship lands on Kitson, but the passengers screw them over and maroon them on the planet’s casino with one measly chip to bargain their way to safety. Fortunately, Enoch’s processing gives him an advantage in the computer based games, earning them some cash, only for them to lose said cash when a gambler bluffs his way into taking all their money in alien poker.

Trippin’ | The Zephyr arrives at another planet, Fitz’s original destination, where an inspector (“Fringe’s” Clark Middleton) demands that the crew surrender their weapons. When Simmons asks where Fitz is, a bounty hunter arrives and tries to kill them, but gets knocked out and taken prisoner. Daisy and Simmons discover from the inspector that Fitz’s ship went to Kitson and head there, interrogating the treacherous crew of Fitz’s ship, and also unintentionally consuming alien narcotics.

Down on Our Luck | Left with no choice, Enoch enrolls Fitz in a game which, if he loses, will end in his enslavement. As a tripped out Daisy and Simmons make their way through the casino, the Hunter escapes custody and sends his men into the casino, where Daisy fights remarkably good for someone on alien drugs! Simmons tries to find Fitz, just as he manages to get out of the gambling room and they see each other, but of course, the Hunter arrives and escapes with Fitz in tow.

“Agents of SHIELD” airs Fridays on ABC.
