“Agents of SHIELD” Recap: Sound and Fury

“Agents of SHIELD” is slowly building towards the final five episodes of the season in grandiose fashion in “The Honeymoon.” Fitz, Simmons and Yo-Yo launch a dangerous mission to destroy HYDRA’s secret weapon, but little do they know that Ruby has designs on it. Daisy and May’s mission to rescue Coulson leads to a life or death scenario for one of their own.

Search and Destroy | Coulson and Talbot are rescued by Daisy and May, but not before Deke gets shot by Hale in the escape. With Simmons MIA, Mack and Piper literally read how to stitch up a bullet hole on an iPad and save him. And afterwards, a drugged up Deke confesses that he wants to make out with Daisy. Great…

Ruby is furious with her mother that she chased Daisy away when Ruby could’ve killed her, and as such beats the crap out of Hale and locks her in the base before absconding with Strucker in search of the Destroyer of Worlds project. Speaking of…

Rise of the Machines | Fitz, Simmons and Yo-Yo have found the machine and manage to destroy a key component of it before being overrun by the Superior’s androids. Yo-Yo fights the Superior and destroys his robotic body, causing all the androids attacking FitzSimmons to shut down. Unfortunately, Ruby and Strucker arrive at that exact moment and Ruby threatens to kill Simmons unless Fitz fixes the device.

A Terrible Choice | The only other major developments this week were May having it out with Coulson over his reckless decisions as of late. This ends in May admitting that she loves Coulson, which shuts him up good right before she walks out. Unfortunately, that’s the last we see of either of them this episode. The other thing is Daisy giving Talbot a phone to contact his wife, only for his wife to be forced at gunpoint by Hale’s hench-woman to read a HYDRA activation cypher, forcing Talbot to turn evil.

“Agents of SHIELD” airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
