“Agents of SHIELD” Recap: All Hands on Deck

“Agents of SHIELD” ended their 99th episode on a doozy in “All the Comforts of Home,” as the SHIELD team returns from the future and discovers a mysterious beacon that could be a sign of the bleak future to come. Daisy refuses to take part in the action, while a familiar face arrives unexpectedly.

We’re Back |Team SHIELD returns to the Lighthouse in the present and are met by Noah (“Avatar’s” Joel David Moore), a colleague of Enoch’s who helps the team discover a light coming from a building in St. Louis. Everyone sans Daisy hops on the Zephyr to check it out, while Daisy discovers that everyone is on the top most wanted lists. As the group leaves the Lighthouse to fly off, Deke appears in the middle of the town.

Deke is naturally a fish out of water, running up a massive tab at a local bar before being arrested because he can’t pay for the food. Daisy finds a police report of Deke’s arrest and reluctantly sneaks out of the Lighthouse to bail him out.

Could Be Worse | The rest of team SHIELD travel to St. Louis and are met by a familiar face, agent Piper, who at first seems to help the crew, but in a shocking twist, is working with the SHIELD-hating General Hale, who opens the episode chatting with her Daisy Johnson-obsessed daughter Ruby (Dove Cameron). A cool masked woman arrives to kill the team and ends up using a sharp disc to- chop off Yo-Yo’s arms??!! That was dark, man! Plus, the show doesn’t shy away from the bloody spectacle of it all. Remember when this show was fun and light?

Piper ends up helping the team escape with the barely alive Yo-Yo, whose fate is left up in the air. In yet another dark-ass twist, the masked woman who ordered them dead is not Hale, but Ruby!!! All this was just to get Daisy’s attention! Yowza, that kid’s got issues! And just in case you thought episode 99 couldn’t get any more serious, the device that sent the light to draw in the team, which Coulson and crew took back to the Lighthouse with them, turns out to be a bomb that goes off right in Noah’s face.

Do you think Yo-Yo will make it out alive? What are your predictions for next week’s 100th episode? Let us know in the comments.
