Marvel Television unveiled a new famous character from their comic books to appear on the upcoming fourth season of “Agents of SHIELD“- Ghost Rider.
At the “Agents of SHIELD” panel at San Diego Comic Con, a brief clip was shown of a skull on fire, which sent the Marvel fans in the audience into a veritable frenzy. The clip was followed by the text: “Vengeance is coming next season.”
Marvel Head of Television Jeph Loeb had this to say on the addition of Ghost Rider: “SHIELD’s orignal mission was always to find the weird, the unusual, the unexpected and then classify it and see whether or not it was dangerous and if it could be contained. And whether that was the Inhumans or whether that was a guy with a flaming skull, that gives us an opportunity to explore a world we haven’t seen before. And so, the character of Robbie Reyes takes us not just into the world of Ghost Rider, but also into the world of East LA and the world of his relationship with his younger brother and he’s also got a certain badass quality.”
Gabriel Luna (“Matador”) has been cast in the role of Reyes, a character from the Marvel Now! comics iteration of Ghost Rider. “He has a very commanding presence,” Loeb said. “We just think it’s somebody that, like many of our other cast members that people haven’t gotten to know before, like Chloe Bennet, like Brett Dalton, and we found somebody else just like that.”
“Agents of SHIELD” premieres Tuesday, September 20 at 10 PM on ABC.
