In September we brought you two insanely short but still very awesome promos. The first was a spot for The CW’s Thursday lineup featuring The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle. The 10 second promo was the first to air on the network and had a very slick and edgy style to it — something we really liked! Then we showed you the even shorter six second promo which was dedicated to The Secret Circle. Shortly after, The CW continued doing these short promos for the rest of their shows. One of our favorites is the promo for Hart of Dixie. The music in that is just very awesome.
We loved the promos above. What would make it better — and what other fans have wanted — was something that wasn’t so short. The CW delivered and gave us a longer promo for their Thursday lineup and Thursday’s on The CW are definitely TV to Talk About.
One of the things we were working on was coming up with a cool phrase or slogan to describe Thursday nights on The CW. Something clever that described The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle. The best we came up with was “Bloody Spell”. Don’t laugh! It’s like the saying Bloody Hell and “Bloody” for The Vampire Diaries and “Spell” for The Secret Circle, of course. We just haven’t publicly mentioned it before because we weren’t sure if it was a bit cheesy.
The marketing machine over at The CW have come up with a great phrase for Thursday nights to help lure viewers to the network for the best night on its schedule. “Come For A Bite, Stay For Dessert.” The “Come For A Bite” obviously is for The Vampire Diaries and “Stay For Dessert” is for The Secret Circle. I like that it’s saying to watch Diaries and stick around for Circle. Not sure if “Stay For Dessert” really works for Circle as much as the former works for Diaries but Dessert does work for the hot, steamy scenes from the show they’ve added to the promo.
