“National Treasure: Edge of History” Episode ‘Point of No Return’ Recap: Big Nicolas Cage Energy

Big twists are abound on National Treasure: Edge of History as Jess crosses the border to find the man who killed her father, Myles grows a conscience, Billie frames Jess for murder and Jess has her Nicolas Cage moment! Let’s dive in!

Framed, I Tell Ya! | Jess (Lisette Olivera) convinces Tasha (Zuri Reed) and Oren (Antonio Cipriano) that going to Mexico to track down Salazar is their only play and that since Salazar doesn’t want Billie (Catherine Zeta-Jones) to find the treasure, they could work together to find it. Unfortunately, Agent Ross (Lyndon Smith) is clearing out Jess’s apartment after she was ordered to arrest her for Sadusky’s murder based on the false evidence from Myles (Dustin Ingram). But Myles feels guilty for framing Jess and declines the $150,000 he was paid for doing so. Good work, Myles! Or not…

Billie is in a courthouse awaiting her fate for the Alamo incident and chats with a history buff who gives away the location of the real relic. Jess, Oren and Tasha pack up for Mexico and Ethan (Jordan Rodrigues) tells her what happened with Liam (Jake Austin Walker) and vows to clear her name. As such, he walks into the FBI offices and pleads his case to Ross, but she plays the audio of Jess’s fake confession to him. Ethan, however, notices a grammatical error in the audio file and claims that said error is a British slang. Ross holds firm that Jess is responsible, but nonetheless visits Billie as she’s bailed out of the Alamo prison, as Billie gives herself away by using the same slang from the audio.

Family Matters | As Jess, Oren and Tasha officially cross the border into Mexico, Liam heads to the bar to look for Jess, but is forced into playing a song for a crowd who heard his viral video from Graceland. Afterwards, Liam sees Myles and tries to beat the crap out of him, but Myles reveals that he dragged Liam out of the river when Billie’s goons threw him in. Myles hands Liam his phone so he can call Jess and confesses to framing her.

Ethan arrives in Mexico to join the crew as Jess manages to get into the prison holding Salazar for a conversation. Salazar arrives in the holding room to see Jess- and recognizes her, revealing himself to be her own father (Jacob Vargas). He claims that he escaped the fire and robbed the bank looking for the last relic, but someone moved it. Jess is understandably furious that her father has been alive all these years and even more so that she ended her life in America only to find out all this. Even as her father gives her a clue to the relic’s location, Jess says that she’s done with the treasure hunt and storms out.

I’m Gonna Do It | She tells Ethan, Oren and Tasha that she’s going to turn herself in for Sadusky’s murder to go back to America, but Ethan convinces her to finish the hunt. They decipher the clue her dad gave her, leading them to a nun convent, where they play the lullaby that Jess’s parents sang to her on the church organ, unlocking a hidden compartment holding the final relic. They open all three relics and unfold a map written in a code that Jess can’t crack. They go back to the prison holding Jess’s father, hoping he can decode it, but Billie beats them to the punch and sees that Salazar is really Rafael. Jess has her Ben Gates moment and declares, “I’m gonna break my father out of prison.”
