The Peripheral moves forward in this week’s thrilling episode, “Haptic Drift,” which sees Burton take precautions to defend him and Flynne, while Wilf searches for Aelita. This one’s a doozy, so let’s dive in!
Decapitation Strike | In 2015, Corbell (Louis Herthum) is operating a car dealership with his young nephew Jasper and sells a bunch of bulletproof cars to a biker gang. When they get inside the cars, however, he locks them inside and leaves them to fry in the 100+ degree heat, much to Jasper’s horror. In 2032, Corbell’s wife suggests that they have Jasper (Chris Coy) survey Flynne (Chloe Grace Moretz) and Burton (Jack Reynor) so they can keep their hands clean. Flynne tells Billy Ann (Adelind Horan), who is also Jasper’s wife, about what’s going on with the headset and tells her that she’s concerned about why they won’t tell her what happened to her future self.
Contingencies | Flynne tells Burton that she told Billy Ann everything and he snaps on her since she’s married to Corbell’s nephew and could tell them both. Flynne logs into London again and is told that Aelita and Mariel both worked at the Research Institute and that Mariel’s eyeball was used to access a restricted floor. Ash (Katie Leung) also informs Flynne that Corbell has been searching for information on her and her family and Flynne demands to be sent back to her time. As soon as she leaves, Wilf (Gary Carr) visits a mansion where his adopted mother Mrs. West (Amanda Drew) lives and demands to know when she saw Aelita last. West says she ran into her a month ago and said, “When snow last fell in London,” and then left.

Flynne tells Burton that Corbell is planning to kill them and Burton immediately suggests that they kill him, but Flynne shoots that down. Burton, however, ignores her and confronts Corbell at a bar and offers him $200,000 to leave them alone. He also mentions that he has haptics implanted in his body that links to others in his Marine unit, telling Corbell a story about how the haptics made him nearly kill a man he had never met who had assaulted someone in his unit. Corbell doesn’t seem threatened, until Conner (Eli Goree) shoots his glass with a sniper rifle. Corbell shakes hands with Burton, which Tommy (Alex Hernandez) sees from a distance.
Not the Bees! | In London, Flynne nearly gets busted by a robot policeman, but Wolf covers for her by claiming that she’s his girlfriend and they kiss just before Ash logs Flynne out of the Peripheral. Cherise (T’Nia Miller), the head honcho of the Research Institute, visits a former roommate of Aelita’s named Grace (Amber Rose Revah) and interrogates her about her connection to Aelita. Grace lets slip that she told Aelita about the classified floor and Cherise responds by letting a swarm of bees attack her and kill her, even though Grace pleads for her children’s lives.
Jasper is tasked with delivering a bag of cash to Corbell’s house, which Billy Ann sees and insists that he find out what it’s about. He briefly considers taking the money, but ends up delivering the money to Corbell. Corbell says that it’s from Burton to pay them off and he gives Jasper a stack of money to find out where Burton got the money. Flynne figures out that Aelita’s clue, “When snow last fell in London,” refers to the death place of a doctor named Snow. They find out the address and it’s the same street where Ice met Aelita. Flynne takes Wilf there and they find a grandfather clock which unlocks a hidden room. Inside is the room where Ice’s eyeball was removed and they find two dead Peripherals- and a scale model of the Fisher house. Wilf finds a chip that belonged to Aelita which they could use to trace her, but they are met at the exit by Daniel (David Hoflin) and a robot who attacks them. Flynne gets the upper hand against him and demands to know why he’s after her and he says that she took something- that’s before his robot soldier slices his head off.
