Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” was one of the best films of 2019 and a massive hit and so, it was only natural that Netflix would want a piece of the whodunnit action and ordered a series of sequels for the streaming service.
Now, Netflix has released the first trailer for the second murder mystery for Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc, with the curious title of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” As with most trailers, it doesn’t reveal too much about the main plot of the sequel, but wastes no time showing off its star studded cast.
The film, written and directed by Johnson (“Star Wars: Episode VIII- The Last Jedi”), stars Craig (“No Time to Die”), Edward Norton (“Fight Club”), Dave Bautista (“Blade Runner 2049”), Janelle Monae (“Hidden Figures”), Kathryn Hahn (“WandaVision”), Leslie Odom Jr. (“One Night in Miami”), Jessica Henwick (“The Matrix Resurrections”) and Kate Hudson (“Almost Famous”).
The brief synopsis reads: “You’re invited to put the pieces together. In the followup to Rian Johnson’s ‘Knives Out,’ Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.”
While no release date has been confirmed for the highly anticipated sequel, it is expected to hit Netflix sometime this holiday season.
