On the latest episode of SYFY’s SurrealEstate, a Roman Agency client hosts an award-winning rap artist, which leads the team to investigate a tragic, long-hidden secret. Meanwhile, Phil heads back to church for research and confronts people from his past. Written by Gillian Müller and directed by Melanie Scrofano, here’s what went down in “Ft. Ghost Child.”
Curious George | The Roman Agency leases out a venue to music artist Damon (Cassius Crieghtney) to record his next album. The Cortona House is elegant and historic, and a luxurious throwback to an age of glamor and grace. Built in 1880, it’s been owned by a number of individuals and institutions over the years. Luke (Tim Rozon) tells Damon’s team that the property is a serene, inspiring environment to nurture the muse of a creative artist.
Fortunately for Damon, the Cortona’s recording studio is state-of-the-art. Unfortunately, however, the Cortona has something else inside the house: an entity whose vibes to Luke are of youth, innocence, and a lot of loneliness. It appears that the young spirit stuck in the house is curious about its new inhabitors — and wants to play. But what may seem like playful fun and games to this trapped spirit turns out to be scary and incredibly dangerous to everyone inside.

Father Figure | One of the previous owners of the Cortona was the Catholic Diocese, and Phil (Adam Korson) goes back to the church, where he grew up in and devoted his life to, to get a little history on the place. With the help of Sister Yasmin (Christie Stewart), Phil gets access to boxes of records of the property and gets to work.
Behind the boxes of archives, he notices a framed painting of Jesus and begins a conversation. Phil shares that years ago, he was having a really lousy day one Thursday and felt like crap. That night, he was walking to his car, which was parked across the street of a church, and started to hear music emanating from it.
He walked into the church while a choir practice was in session and he just let the music wash over him. Sitting there on the back pew, he was surprised by how much the music helped. He felt better. It gave him strength and comfort. “You could’ve taken that away from me,” Phil says. “I’m really glad that you didn’t.”
Back at the office, Phil presents the agency with his findings from his research. If a woman or girl were to become pregnant, they could live out their pregnancy in the Cortona House, away from judgement from society. 24 hours after birth, the mothers and their babies would never see each other ever again. While scrolling through old photos from the archives, the team is able to locate the young boy, who only appears in the photos dated between the years 1965-1970. “I hope he was adopted,” Zooey (Savannah Basley) says.
Furious George | Worried that Damon is going to leave the house for good, the little boy, George (Atticus Lee-Samson), locks him up in the recording studio and demands they play together. The room begins to shake and the large equipment inside start flying around in every direction, nearly hitting the musician.
Before things get worse, Luke shows up just in time and asks the young boy, by his name, to open up the door. The craziness on the other side of the door subsides and the door unlocks. Luke tells the boy that his mom, who died in a very sad accident, won’t be coming to get him, but she wanted to more than anything. “The thing about moms is they never stop being your mom,” he says. “Even when they’re away, they’re still kinda there.”
Luke tells George that he needs him to go to sleep, and when he sees a bright light, to go there. “Your mom’s there,” Luke says, teary eyed, “and a whole bunch of other kids to play with, and they’re all waiting for you.” The little boy rests his head on Luke’s shoulders and closes his eyes. Moments later, the boy has gone and crossed over to the other side. And where he sat just seconds ago lay his little toy firetruck.
