It seems like fans of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s classic graphic novel Y: The Last Man have been waiting forever for a live action adaptation of the story. Numerous failed adaptations have come and gone over the years and the television series has seen a long road. Now, the wait is almost over and FX has dropped a long awaited trailer for the series set to hit FX on Hulu this fall.
The series focuses on a plague that in one single day, wipes out all men and boys on the planet save for one man named Yorick (Ben Schnetzer) and his pet monkey, Ampersand. Unfortunately for Yorick, not all the remaining women on the planet are happy to see him and want him dead. Think “The Handmaid’s Tale” in reverse.
Judging from the trailer, the show won’t be an easy watch and certainly brings the disturbing imagery up to 11. But given the pedigree behind the series and the anticipation surrounding the project, this will definitely merit a watch from comic fans.
The series also stars Diane Lane, Olivia Thirlby and Ashley Romans as some of the last remaining women on Earth. The series will premiere on FX on Hulu on September 13, 2021.
