Vampire Diaries Interview: Candice Accola on ‘Klaroline’

By season’s end of The Vampire Diaries, Klaus had returned to give Caroline the perfect graduation gift: With he and his family now heading to New Orleans, Tyler is now free to return to Mystic Falls. And while the Tyler/Caroline shippers rejoice, the Klaus/Caroline fans mourn what could have been.

Vampire Diares Candice Accola Talks Caroline and KlausOMFGtv sat down with the sunny vampire herself, Candice Accola, along with other reporters during the San Diego Comic-Con and chatted about the much talked about “Klaroline” relationship.

While she finds it amusing and funny that there are so many Klaus/Caroline fans, she thinks it best that the two don’t get involved. “I just don’t trust that his character is a nice guy yet,” Accola shares. “Everyone’s like, ‘but they’re so cute!’ and I’m like, ‘Guys, he’s a murderer and he’s got a kid on the way with another woman!’ I know he’s got an accent and he’s really cute [but] we ought to broaden the horizons a little bit.”

Viewers watched as Klaus continuously pined for Caroline and we wanted to know if she thinks Caroline ever shared the same feelings toward Klaus even just the tiniest bit, or if it was just one sided. “I think there were butterflies,” Accola offers. “When you’re that young, you’re like, ‘No, I’m in love and this is forever.’ Four months later, no one understands you and it just changes a lot and I think that’s really normal.

“I think the long-time love that Caroline is searching for is the love that she needs to instate within herself,” she continues. “That’s when she’ll be able to love.”

The will-they-or-won’t-they duo are now heading separate ways and soon on separate shows. With the Klaroline shippers thirsty for a reunion, the chances of the pair crossing paths are not concrete. “It’s by no means something that has been planned so far,” she says. “Whether it’s on The Originals or The Vampire Diaries, I have no idea. But we’ll see.”

The Vampire Diaries and The Originals premieres Thursday, October 3, on The CW.
