In one of “Legacies'” strongest episodes in a long time, “That’s Nothing I Had to Remember,” we get action, comedy, drama and an old friend. Josie travels to New Orleans to track down someone who could help her find out more about Hope, while MG and Kaleb capture Sebastian to keep him from doing harm. Lizzie threatens to crack knowing the truth about Hope.
Back to Rousseau’s | Right out of the gate, we get the long awaited return of Freya Mikaelson (Riley Voelkel), who is still happily married to Keelin with their infant son Nic, as Josie sneaks off to Rousseau’s to ask her advice on the spell that made Lizzie remember Hope. Freya advises Josie that one mistake with the spell could permanently erase the memories, as Josie sees photos of fallen “Originals” alumni- for some reason, Klaus, Hayley and Elijah were missing, but Davina is there even though she’s still kicking- along with a photo of Freya and Hope together. Josie uses the spell on Freya, which knocks her out and then hightails it.

Getting the Squad Back Together | Back at Mystic Falls, another monster kills a congressman and leaves the word, “Croatoan” carved in the wall. Research shows that the Croatoan feeds on anyone with a secret, and Sebastian, who’s been locked up by Kaleb and MG, knows the witch who created it, named Cassandra, because they were lovers centuries ago. The Croatoan goes after Lizzie, due to her keeping Hope’s secret, and she nearly spills the beans to Landon in an effort to save them before Hope intervenes.
Truth Seekers | Sheriff Mack interrogates Alaric under suspicion that he was responsible for the murders in the bar from last week’s episode. Alaric calls in Matt Donovan, who vouches for him, before he confesses to Mack about Mystic Falls’ supernatural community- only to have Kaleb compel her to forget about it.
As the Croatoan goes after Hope and Lizzie, the girls try to spill their secrets to ward off the beast, during which, Hope confesses that she had a crush on Josie when she was 14! That’s right, Hope Andrea Mikaelson is canonically bisexual! But that gets brushed aside by Josie arriving and casting the spell to bring everyone’s memories of Hope back. The monster leaves to go after Landon, but Hope kills it with a necklace that Sebastian provides that belonged to Cassandra.
Landon is pissed at Hope for not telling her the truth and storms off, while Rafael tells Hope that they can’t hang out anymore due to his feelings for her. Landon tells Josie that he needs time to decide whether or not he still has feelings for her, while MG tells Lizzie that Sebastian is real. The only good ending is Freya finally remembering Hope and flying to Mystic Falls to give her a hug.
