“Legacies” finally returns with “I Couldn’t Have Done This Without You,” which tells the story of the Necromancer after he was freed from Malivore’s control last season. Alaric gives Sebastian a chance to integrate himself into the school, while Hope tries to mend fences with Josie.
Spat Out in Texas | Time to catch up with the Necromancer! After being freed from Malivore last season, the Necromancer wakes up on a curb in Texas as a powerless human. Eventually, he gets a job at- and you’re gonna love this- an ice cream parlor, where he befriends a conspiracy lover named Chad. He convinces Chad that he is the Necromancer and Chad gleefully pledges his loyalty to him, only for poor Chad to end up on the receiving end of the Necromancer’s knife. But Necrodude resurrects Chad and now controls him like a puppet.

Vampire Tests | Alaric tasks Landon with monitoring Sebastian as he takes a tour of the school to see how he behaves around the three factions. He passes the werewolf and vampire tests, but the witches are hostile towards him and Sebastian runs away from them after they read his thoughts. Still, Landon gives Sebastian a pass to Alaric, but Alaric has been reading up on vampire history and finds out that Sebastian was a mass murderer.
He finds Sebastian feeding on a jogger and crossbows him in the back, giving him one last chance to change. When Sebastian brags about all the times he’s had sex with Lizzie, Alaric reloads his crossbow. Next time we see him, he’s telling Lizzie that Sebastian left on his own accord, leaving Lizzie heartbroken. But was Alaric telling the truth, or did he kill Sebastian?
A Shot at Peace | Josie secretly steals the magical hourglass that Vardemus was using from Alaric’s office, but when she uses it again, she sees herself standing in front of the burning Salvatore School. Hope helps her put a barrier spell around the hourglass, warning that if it breaks, bad things will happen. As Josie and Landon cheer up Hope by redecorating her room, the Necromancer and Chad open a new portal to Malivore and convince the monster that emerges from it to retrieve the hourglass.
