At San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Legacies star Matthew Davis previewed the upcoming second season of The CW’s supernatural series in surprising detail, giving PopWire a ton of juicy tidbits about the upcoming season.
Davis described Alaric’s mindset at the opening of season two. “We find Alaric at the end of a summer hiatus,” Davis began. “He’s trying to put the pieces together because there’s something in the back of his mind that says things aren’t right.”
With Alaric having been put in the position of potentially being voted out as headmaster of the Salvatore School, Davis revealed that he was indeed ousted at the school. “They called his bluff,” Davis said. “He sometimes checks in at the Salvatore School with Dorian on occasion. There may or may not be a new person who replaces him at the school, who may or may not be a good person. This new character may or may not have the best interests for the school.” (Get ready to hear these words a lot!)

Davis also teased new dynamics for the show’s existing characters. “Landon, having forgotten Hope, may or may not start to fall for someone else. If Hope were to, say, get out of Malivore in the first episode, she may or may not from a distance watch Landon fall for another person.”
Speaking of Hope, Davis used his favorite phrase to describe Hope’s reemergence next season. “There may or may not be a monster that is threatening Mystic Falls. Alaric may or may not be tracking down this monster. Hope may or may not get out of Malivore and also be tracking the same monster and their paths may or may not cross. They may or may not team up to defeat this monster, even though Alaric doesn’t know who she is and she may or may not make up a new identity to protect him from the truth.”
“Alaric might meet a woman, who may or may not be the new sheriff at Mystic Falls and may or may not be a single mother with kids,” Davis continued. On Alaric’s relationship with his twin daughters, Davis confided, “Josie’s been his caretaker to make sure that he doesn’t go off the deep end. Lizzie may or may not have spent the summer in Paris visiting mom.” And then, the bombshell: “Caroline may or may not make an appearance. It’s entirely up in the air! We’ll see!” (For the record, that’s fifteen ‘May or may nots!’)
Legacies season two premieres Thursday, October 10 at 9pm on The CW.
