“The 100” Recap: The Eclipse

The 100 premiere left off with our friends on the ground getting their ship stolen and Emori stabbing Murphy, and this episode picks up right where that one left off. We see what the eclipse does to everyone as well as who stole their ship. ‘Red Sun Rising’ was written by Jeff Vlaming and directed by Alex Kalymnios.

Back in Time | The episode kicks off with a flashback to the original human settlers on Alpha. We see how they came up with the name Sanctum for their home, and how the eclipse effected them for the first time, which definitely did not end well. Hopefully things go differently for our friends on the ground.

Intruders | The ship thieves make it aboard the ship and knock out everyone with a gas to move them to one area, all except for clever Raven (Lindsey Morgan). Raven uses her wit and decides the only way to save her people was to wake up someone she hates, Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic). Together they take out 2 of the 4 intruders, then use the radio to get in contact with the other 2. Raven dresses in one of the dead intruders uniforms and helmet and they go to meet the other 2. The lady who seems to be in charge knows she’s being tricked, but what she doesn’t expect is Madi (Lola Flanery) coming out of the ceiling to take out her last remaining partner. Raven and Diyoza free their people and decide to take this woman down to the ground to find Clarke and the others.

On the ground they come across Shaw’s grave, and Raven is shocked and heartbroken. They follow this woman to the Sanctum.

Going Crazy | Bellamy (Bob Morley) patches Murphy (Richard Harmon) up as the group decides the best course of action is to split up into small groups and chain themselves up in different rooms during the eclipse. Clarke (Eliza Taylor), Murphy, and Bellamy share a room, and Murphy and Clarke share some words about Clarke’s leadership style. They can hear Miller (Jarod Joseph) as he begins to scream in his room he shares with Jackson (Sachin Sahel). Clarke and Bellamy decide to unchain themselves to go help, and realize Miller and Jackson are having some sort of shared hallucination and were both acting violent, so they tranq’d them. When they get back to their room they realize Murphy had broken free and taken the guns.

Clarke and Bellamy end up splitting up and Clarke begins her temporary decent into madness. She thinks her mother is talking to her over the radio, telling her to kill herself. She almost does it when Murphy finds her and stops her. Since Clarke only seems to be a danger to herself and Murphy isn’t having murderous thoughts, they team up to try to catch and knock out a deranged Bellamy. The plan almost works until Clarke begins hearing her mom over the radio telling her to kill herself again. Because she’s distracted Bellamy nearly drowns Murphy. Clarke barely saves him when she’s forced to use gas to knock all three of them out to save them from each other.

They wake up to Abby (Paige Turco), Raven, Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and the others standing around them. But they don’t have time to catch up because dozens of children are suddenly walking towards them. One child, Rose (Amélie Eve), comes up to them and asks if they are going to take them home. Isn’t this moon their home?
