“Runaways” takes a page out of the thriller handbook in their latest episode, “Hostile Takeover.” Awol plots revenge against the Runaways, who are forced to make difficult decisions to come out of this alive. Chase makes a risky move to save Gert’s life.
Shields Up | Awol takes Livvie hostage and arrives outside the Hostel pointing a gun to her head in an effort to bring the Runaways out. Nico uses the Staff to put up a shield over the Hostel, disguising the entrances, but she must hold the spell until they can drive Awol and his men away, which is draining the energy from her. To make matters worse, Gert and Old Lace are getting sicker and sicker and Chase must somehow sneak out of the Hostel to take them to a hospital.

Hostage Swap | Alex reasons that they need to get a hostage of their own to negotiate with Awol and so they ask him to repel down through the skylight before knocking him out and tying him to a chair.
But Nico is getting weaker and weaker trying to hold the spell and is close to breaking. Meanwhile, a random homeless woman on the streets mysteriously transforms into the nice lady who gave her food and seems to be interested in finding Karolina. Remember this chick.
In the chaos, Chase manages to sneak out with Gert and Old Lace in tow, but he takes them to the Yorkes’s house. The unusually bossy Stacey reveals that she used a drone to poison Old Lace, and by extension Gert, to try to get them to come home. And the kicker is that there’s only enough of the poison’s antidote for one or the other. Chase grabs the antidote and uses it on Old Lace, which saves Gert’s life, but they’re still locked in the Yorkes’s basement.
Taking Back Control | As Awol’s men prepare to storm the Hostel to bring him back, Nico passes out from the strain of holding the spell. Alex and Karolina try to make one last stand against Awol and his men, while Molly rescues Livvie. As Awol and his guys corner the others, the Staff of One comes to life and uses the unconscious Nico like a puppet to cast a spell that disintegrates Awol and his men. After this, Nico passes out again, leaving the others horrified. On the Pride front, Frank convinces the churchgoers to turn against Leslie and lock her up, while Victor and Tina, who have also been acting strange lately, put up flyers in an alien language…
