Fans of Sex and the City who are excited to catch The CW’s new series, The Carrie Diaries, may be surprised to find another young sibling living in the Bradshaw household.
“They never addressed that Carrie had a sister in Sex and the City, but in the books there’s actually two sisters and Dorrit is one of them,” Stefania Owen tells Access Hollywood.
Owen, who plays Carrie Bradshaw’s younger sister, Dorrit, talks about how completely different her character is and how it was a blast to play the role. “Dorrit is the opposite of Carrie. She’s the rebel child who creates trouble. She’s a fun character. She dresses goth and emo with emo makeup and lots of jewelry. I’m having so much fun playing Dorrit.
The fifteeen-year-old actress, last seen on FOX’s Running Wilde, invites viewers to tune in and says that because of the atypical group of characters on the show, everyone will connect with at least one of them. “A lot of people will relate to the different characters in The Carrie Diaries because there’s so many different characters,” she explains. “We have the girl that struggles with being so smart and trying to earn her parents’ respect, and then we have Carrie who is trying to make everyone happy, Dorrit who’s rebelling because she’s hurt, then we have Maggie who’s all into boys, so because we have all these different characters, so many people can relate to the show.”
The Carrie Diaries premieres Monday, January 14th, on The CW.
