Meanwhile, Elijah remembers a pretty crucial tidbit from his time in France: Hayley came to visit him and they spent a night together dancing at an art gallery. Elijah tries to leave New Orleans, devastated that he recognized Hayley before she died, but he finds a long lost letter she wrote him that says she wants him to be happy no matter what.

Peace in the Past Tense | Marcel is drowning his sorrows about Josh at Rousseau’s and Declan confronts him about the truth about vampires. He threatens to out Marcel to the human community of New Orleans and Marcel knocks him out before Davina convinces him that there’s a way to keep the peace without hurting Declan. Marcel offers to train Declan to lead the human faction and keep peace in New Orleans.

Survivors Guilt | Right before Klaus and Elijah walk Freya down the aisle, Rebekah informs Klaus that Davina told her that Hope’s illness is going to kill her no matter what. The entire family enjoys Freya and Keelin’s wedding, potentially the last happy moment they’ll all have together. Klaus tries to tell Hope her impending fate, but he can’t do it and the episode ends with Elijah tearfully hugging his brother.
