“The 100” Recap: Guys, There’s More Worms

CW’s The 100 just keeps getting crazier and crazier! In the latest episode, ‘Acceptable Losses’, we see more of those crazy worms, Echo betrays Raven for their people, and Diyoza reveals she’s pregnant! The insane episode was written by Jeff Vlaming and directed by Mairzee Almas.

Shock Collars | Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic) shows the defectors who has joined her people the lay of the land in Shallow Valley, but the defectors aren’t exactly free or trusted. They’re placed in shock collars and forced to stay in one house until Diyoza interviews them all and decides she can trust and use them. Abby (Paige Turco) and Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) get into an argument, possibly even breaking up, because of Abby’s addiction to her pills.

Diyoza interviews Echo (Tasya Teles), who tells Diyoza she’s a spy. In one day of being in Shallow Valley she’s discovered someone who’s betrayed Diyoza. Raven’s (Lindsey Morgan) buddy Shaw (Jordan Bolger) is the perfect scapegoat for Echo’s plan to get Monty’s (Christopher Larkin) piece of tech in place, so she tells Diyoza he’s betrayed her, and uses Raven to prove it. But this breach of trust looks like it could have serious repercussions on the Echo/Raven friendship. Shaw is now imprisoned with the defectors, but Monty can now see what’s going on without being detected.

The Worms | Remember those disgusting worms from a few episodes back? Well they’re back, and in disturbing quantities. With permission from Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos), Kara (Kyra Zagorsky) is breeding the worms on defectors. Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Monty discover them, and on an even more gruesome note, they discover that one of the defectors is still alive, being tortured by the worms inside him. Indra (Adina Porter) did not know of the worms, and is offended Blodreina did not tell her of them. O is now devising a plan to use a live person to transport the worms to Shallow Valley, where they will only survive a few days, but long enough to kill everyone there. That includes their friends who are there. O deems them “acceptable losses,” and wants to move forward with the plan as soon as Monty has eyes inside the camp. But Clarke and Bellamy (Bob Morley) disagree with her plan and want to rescue their friends.

Second | Madi (Lola Flanery) is training with the other children, but Clarke has instructed her to hold back. Gaia (Tati Gabrielle) agrees with Clarke, because she is a true nightblood she should hold back so she can one day be Commander, with the flame [that she showed her], Madi should hide how strong she truly is. But later during training in the pit, Octavia asks to see her fight. At first Madi lets herself get tossed around, but something snaps and, against Clarke’s wishes, lets Ethan (St. John Myers) have it. Octavia is so impressed that she asks Madi to be her second in the upcoming war against Diyoza and her people. Madi accepts, which you can tell scares the sh*t out of Clarke. It actually worries Momma Clarke so much that she reaches out to Diyoza via the radio to ask what it would take to let Diyoza share the valley. Diyoza will only share if they completely surrender to her. Since Clarke knows Octavia would never do that, she decides they need to take out Blodreina.
