“The 100” Recap: Spy Time

The 100 has been a darker show for quite some time now, but this weeks episode takes that to a whole new level. ‘Exit Wounds,’ written by Drew Lindo and directed by Michael C. Blundell, is very bleak on all sides. Things aren’t going well for Blodreina and her people who can’t get to Eden, the people in Eden are dying from a sickness that Abby is working on a cure for but hasn’t figured it out yet, Raven is MIA but is assumed to still have her shock collar on, and Memori are out in the wilderness being hunted. Things really could not get worse, but somehow it always does.

Defectors | Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic) knows Wonkru’s spirits have been weakened, and she capitalizes on it. She sends a container of food to Wonkru with a message, defect and come to Shallow Valley. Live with her people in peace and have all the food they could want. This sounds like a tempting offer to some of Wonkru, especially old members of the Shallow Valley Kru. Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) knows some of her people will try to defect, so she decides to lift Echo’s (Tasya Teles) banishment if she spies for her an turns in defectors. Echo agrees at first, but after speaking with some potential defectors she decides against it. But she has an idea that will benefit both her and Octavia. She can pretend to be a defector, infiltrate Diyoza’s ship, and use Monty’s (Christopher Larkin) flash drive containing a backdoor into the ships cameras so that Wonkru will have access to them. By doing this, Echo will be allowed to stay in Wonkru with Bellamy (Bob Morley).

The Truth | Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Madi (Lola Flanery) have been lying to everyone about how Madi survived the radiation. Clarke knows Octavia’s leadership would be at risk if Wonkru knew Madi was a true nightblood, so they’re telling everyone she’s an engineered one, like Clarke. Everyone seems to believe their story, until Niylah (Jessica Harmon) comes by and tells Clarke she can still tell when she’s lying. As they talk, Gaia (Tati Gabrielle) knocks out Niylah and tells Clarke they need to kill her to protect both Madi and Octavia. Clarke convinces her to let Niylah go, and when she awakens Niylah promises not to say anything to Octavia until Clarke gets to tell her the truth the next morning. But Clarke has no intention of telling O the truth, her and Madi are going to defect. Or that’s the plan, until Clarke gets distracted and Madi runs off to tell Octavia the truth. Octavia is very understanding of why Clarke and Madi lied, but she assures Clarke that she no longer has to worry about Madi. The young nightblood is now under Bloodreina’s protection.

Memori Reunion | Murphy (Richard Harmon) and Emori (Luisa d’Oliveira) are on the run from Diyoza’s guys who are tracking them above ground via Murphy’s shock collar. The pair is hiding in a cave, arguing about their past and trying to get the collar off. Emori realizes the reason Murphy pushed her away when they were together was because he was jealous of her friendship with Raven (Lindsey Morgan) and how much time they spent together. After a good chat, Emori proves how much she’s learned from Raven by getting the shock collar off and wiring it to explode when Diyoza’s cronies find it. Everything goes off as expected, and the pair falls into each other’s arms for some “we survived” sex, but Emori made sure to preface it with telling John this doesn’t mean they’re getting back together. But come on, bring them back together! Murphy looks good when he smiles, and that only truly happens around Emori!

Sibling Problems | Bellamy is not a fan of who Octavia has become, and it’s very clear in this episode. When the defectors run towards Diyoza and her ship, O orders Cooper (Kyra Zagorsky) to shoot them. Bellamy doesn’t know who this leader is, because she is not the girl he hid under his floor for years. She’s not even Skairipa anymore. She’s had to evolve to survive, and she’s evolved into Bloodreina.
