“Supergirl’s” latest, “In Search of Lost Time,” saw Supergirl train with Mon-El while M’yrnn’s illness has serious ramifications for the DEO. Lena takes drastic measures to keep Samantha from hurting more people.
Old Testament Stuff | Mon-El briefs the DEO on the impending arrival of Pestilence, the final worldkiller, saying that her arrival will signal horrible death and misery, natch. While Supergirl deals with an angry alien woman, J’onn takes M’yrnn to the DEO to try to help him through his memory problems, which backfires big time when he uses some Martian meditation technique and everyone in the building, Winn, Alex and Supergirl included, starts having angry episodes that end in violence.

For Your Own Good | J’onn explains that M’yrnn’s meditation causes contagious rage in everyone nearby and the only way to stop it is to close off his mind. This leaves J’onn with an upsetting dilemma: Let his father continue to hurt people, or take him from his newfound safety with his family, drawing an interesting Alzheimer’s parallel.
Speaking of tough choices, Lena has Samantha locked up in an L Corp chamber and Samantha refuses to believe that she is Reign. Lena is forced to trigger Samantha turning into Reign and record it to show to Samantha later to convince her. Samantha is devastated that she’s a worldkiller and agrees to be kept far away from Ruby until she can be cured.
You Clean Up Nice | During a Martian inflicted rage fit, Supergirl has it out with Mon-El over his sudden change from jerk to nice guy. J’onn incarcerates his father after quoting “The son becomes the father” line from “Superman Returns.” Nice callback! Kara confronts Mon-El about her spat at him and the two come out stronger as a result, flying through the city together. But of course, this moment of happiness doesn’t last long, as birds start dropping from the sky, heralding the arrival of Pestilence.
