Last week’s episode left off with Vanessa and Scarlett trapped in the lab with Dmitri and his goons. On this week’s episode of Van Helsing, we see what happens in that lab, along with countless bloody battles and the new leader of the Sisterhood. ‘Everything Changes’ was written by Jeremy Smith and Matt Venables and directed by Kaare Andrews.
1976 | The episode begins with some Dmitri (Paul Johansson) backstory, which shows him first facing a Van Helsing in 1976, then later when he is a prisoner in a lab and being tortured and experimented on. He gets set free and goes on a killing spree looking for the doctor that had been in charge of his “care”.
Badass Ladies Kick Ass | Back in real-time, Vanessa (Kelly Overton) and Scarlett (Missy Peregrym) are in that same lab from Dmitri’s backstory, only this time he is hunting them. But they don’t cower, they fight. When they realize they might be outnumbered Vanessa bites Scarlett, which ends up super charging her vampire abilities, allowing her to really kick some vampire ass. But suddenly Dmitri has Scarlett and the key and is threatening to kill her. But sly Scarlett quickly slices off Dmitri’s hand, freeing her and allowing her to grab the key and get away.
Leader Scab | Scab (Rowland Pidlubny) is with the creepy Sisterhood and delivers Dmitri’s message, but Maya (Ona Grauer) turns it down. She refuses to be used and that’s what Dmitri wanted to do with her. Maya tells Scab he is going to die, and he instead kills her. The Sisterhood now recognize him as their leader.

Bye Bye Mohamad | Flesh (Vincent Gale), Lucky (Andrea Ware), and Mohamad (Trezzo Mahoro) are looking for Wanda, the ambulance, but it’s gone. Later, they find a place to rest in the woods but we see that Sam (Christopher Heyerdahl) is watching them. Mohamad is still hurt and his found has ruined his shirt, his favorite Nirvana shirt. Does this mean Mo gets a new outfit later this season???
Flesh leaves to dispose of Mo’s shirt, and Lucky calls Mohamad out on his cocaine addiction.
Flesh hears gunshots and rushes back to find Lucky alone, Sam has taken Mohamad.
Long Live Axel | Wanda’s gone because Julius (Aleks Paunovic) and Doc (Rukiya Bernard) find it and bring it back to Vanessa, Scarlett, and a starving Axel (Jonathan Scarfe). Axel threatens to kill himself if Vanessa doesn’t turn him human, and she agrees to. It works at first, but suddenly his heart stops. Axel dies, despite the shot of adrenaline straight to the heart. Vanessa kisses him before zipping him up in a body bag and burying him.
When they’re driving away suddenly Vanessa hears a faint heartbeat and knows it’s Axel, she demands they turn around and go back for him. Scarlett hears it too, and the two of him dig Axel up to discover he is alive! Her bite plus the adrenaline did work! Axel is alive and human!
Later, Axel is stretching in the sunlight and Vanessa, who is traumatized by what happened to her daughter, tackles him to protect him from it until she realizes he’s fine and isn’t burning.
That night, Vanessa, Scarlett, and everyone she’s turned shares the same dream from the Elder, he wants her to go to the mountain from the painting from her memory. Before they can set off for that mountain a black hawk helicopter lands, gasses them, and takes Vanessa. They say they’ve been looking for her for a long time and they’re going to help. Yeah right!
What’s going to happen now that Vanessa is gone?!? Will Scarlett become their new leader since she shares some of the same abilities as her sister? Or will they go after Vanessa?
