“Inhumans” Episode Review: Attack and Defend

This week on “Inhumans,” Karnak and Gorgon team up to fight Auran, who is holding Declan hostage. Crystal’s connection with Dave threatens Audrey, and Maximus prepares for a rebellion.

“The Gentleman’s Name is Gorgon” was an interesting title for an episode where Gorgon was only in focus in the final act. Karnak and Gorgon split apart from Black Bolt and Medusa to take on Auran, so they… can save Declan, who was working with Maximus? That makes no sense, but in fairness, they do say that Auran is still a threat that should be eliminated.

In the ensuing fight, Auran surrenders in fear of getting killed, but Gorgon fights Mordis, who brings the roof down on top of them, killing them both. This would’ve had impact if Gorgon had a lot to do in his final episode, but aside from a pointless flashback with him training Maximus, Gorgon was a non-factor here.

Speaking of final episodes for main characters, Black Bolt and Medusa found Crystal and Lockjaw and coldly teleported away from Louise and Dave, leaving them to talk their way out of getting arrested by Audrey after she calls the cops on Crystal. Honestly, this is a really dumb way to get rid of Louise, and Louise’s reaction to getting left behind is sadly understated, as if she knows full well she never had a chance to be a part of this adventure. But with two episodes left, fingers crossed this isn’t the end of the line.

“The Gentleman’s Name is Gorgon” had action and drama, neither of which fared well. It was fairly contrived to write out Gorgon and Louise so haphazardly, leaving very little consequences in the wake. With the final two episodes on the horizon, “Inhumans” is going to have to step it up. Quick.

“Inhumans” airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
