“Killjoys” Recap: Welcome Back, Jelco

In one of the most fun episodes of Killjoys to this season, the team decides to go on a heist! Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) takes a different approach to dealing with the HUGE information bomb from the last episode, Johnny (Aaron Ashmore) wants a giant vibrator and D’avin (Luke Macfarlane) agrees they need it, and they all reunite with a former enemy. ‘Heist, Heist Baby’ was written by Julie Puckrin and directed by April Mullen.

Aneela Gets Even Crazier | If you didn’t think Aneela (Hannah John-Kamen) could get any crazier, think again. The Commander captures and tortures Gander (Ted Atherton) for information on Delle Seyah Kendry’s (Mayko Nguyen) location, but Gander won’t give the location up. Instead we learn even more about the Big Bad in the plasma, whom they refer to as “The Lady” and “She”. She lives in the green, but Aneela thinks she can overpower her, and briefly does. And with help from Brynn (Kalinka Petrie), Aneela is reunited with her beloved, and VERY pregnant, Delle Seyah. Aneela then takes away freewill from the remaining free Hullen, except Brynn, she’s allowed to keep hers in return for helping Aneela.

Return of Jelco | Johnny realizes there’s a way to interfere with the Hullen’s technology, but in order to do that they’re going to need a giant vibrator. But Johnny is quick to point out that it’ll be used for business before pleasure. In order to get this giant vibrator they’re going to need to perform a very strategic heist, and end up working with Big Borna (Natasha Bromfield) and her third husband, their old pal Jelco (Pascal Langdale). They stage an ambush of the sonic disrupter–AKA the giant vibrator–but since this is Jelco they’re working with things go awry and D’avin and Jelco are taken prisoner. But Dutch comes to the rescue and saves them, returning Jelco to the love of his life.

Dutch Must Die | The big twist comes at the end of the episode. Dutch has confirmed with Zeph (KellyMcCormick) that Aneela is her original source, meaning she will die when Aneela dies. Wonder why Dutch was in such a happy episode this week? It’s because she now has a plan, and she’s going to enjoy what little time she has left. But D’avin knows this happiness is out of character for Dutch, and bugs her until she opens up about Aneela being her original source. D’avin immediately knows what will happen if they kill Aneela, Dutch dies too. She needs D’avin to think like a General and not a friend, she can take out Aneela with very few deaths. This will protect all of her friends. D’avin looks heartbroken, but agrees with Dutch’s plan.

Alright Killjoys fans, what did you think about that fun episode? We got to see that Jelco isn’t all bad, Aneela will fight for what she wants, and the gang stole a giant vibrator. Oh yeah, and Dutch revealed she’ll have to die, no biggie. Do you think there’s a way to save Dutch?

Killjoys airs Friday’s at 8pm on Syfy!
