SDCC: “Stitchers” Cast & EP Talk Ivy’s Allegiance & Tease “Atomic Bomb of Cliffhangers”!

As we come up on the end of the third season of Stitchers, it seems like we might just get answers to the questions we’ve had since day one. Kirsten’s quest to save her mother has reached it’s do or die moment and it would seem like the team has her back but one never really knows, do they?

Earlier this summer, OMFGTV sat down at with cast members Emma Ishta (Kirsten), Kyle Harris (Cameron), Damon Dayoub (Fisher), and Ritesh Rajan (Linus), along with Executive Producer Jeff Schechter to discuss the finale and what’s down the road for the show if they get a season four.

A big question all season for Kirsten and now Linus is whether or not they can really trust Ivy, and even the audience has been taken on a wild ride of ‘will she/won’t she betray us’. According to Harris, the finale will answer that question once and for all. “It comes to a head in the finale – where the team stands with Ivy, where Ivy stands with Linus, and where Ivy stands with Kirsten.” We will see if her allegiance lies with her sister and her team or with her father.

The episode itself has many answers to questions the audience may not even have realized they had until the reveals. One in particular puts the whole concept of stitching in new light. But the biggest tease from everyone across the board was the end of the episode cliffhanger. At this point it is almost Stitchers tradition to leave off on a giant cliffhanger to make fans chomp at the bit for another season and this year they stepped it up even further. Schechter calls it, “the mother of all cliffhangers,” and in fact, there’s not one, but TWO cliffhangers this year for a one-two-punch.

“For this season, we not only had a cliffhanger that network was fine with, we had an unscripted cliffhanger that we tacked on to the existing cliffhanger and they had no idea it was coming,” Schechter teased. “Our scripted cliffhanger was already big but this one was like the atomic bomb of cliffhangers and the response I got from the network when they screened the cut of it was, ‘We screamed,’ because they had no idea it was coming. And they left it in.”

The cast was also blown away by the double cliffhanger with Dayoub calling it, “The biggest cliffhanger we’ve ever had,” and Rajan joking that, “I think the fans are really gonna love the finale, and then they’re gonna hate us.” One thing’s for sure, the double cliffhanger takes an already emotionally charged plot twist and then fires it out of a canon.

You don’t want to miss tonight’s season finale of Stitchers and stay tuned for what cast and executive producer’s thoughts on a possible season four and what they’d like to see if they get one.
