“Stitchers” Exclusive: Kyle Harris Previews ‘Paternis,’ Teases Rest of Season & Possible Season 4!

It’s one thing to solve crimes committed by strangers, but it’s a whole other beast to investigate your own flesh and blood. Cameron is forced this week to face the very real possibility that his own father is responsible for the newest subject of the Stitchers Program.

OMFGTV spoke with Kyle Harris about what it would mean for his character, Cameron, to have his family and his work be thrust together in the worst way and what else is in store this season for Cameron and the whole Stitchers team.

It’s never easy when your home life and your work life collide but this takes the cake. Cameron learns that there was a death in the prison where his father is being held and to make matters abundantly worse, his father is the prime suspect. While Cameron isn’t the one Stitching, he is still able to get a unique view of not only what happened, but what life for his father has been like. “Cameron through Kirsten’s (Emma Ishta) eyes gets to kind of reconcile but also kind of see what his father’s been up to in jail for the last couple of years,” Harris tells us.

Things between him and his father aren’t exactly games of catch in the park and father’s day cards as of late so that adds another level of difficulty for Cameron personally. “It’s one of those things that he has to swallow some pride and really get to the bottom of it because it’s work related but at the same time very family heavy. And there’s some things that are not completely kosher between them so they’ve got to hash that out.”

Family is always and interesting and complicated dynamic and while Cameron and his father may not be on the best of terms, Harris says “It’s all for the good of the program and at the end of the day he’s got to be the bigger person and try to protect his father despite him not being there for him his entire life.

The season as a whole sees our Stitchers team really starting to get into the mystery of what the true purpose of the program is. There is so much at stake for Kirsten and her mom, and so many questions they all still have, that patience runs thin across the board. One of the biggest questions yet to be answered is how the cases themselves are chosen and Harris teases that mystery just might unfold in the season finale.

“In the finale we kind of find out why we pick the ones we pick and it all makes sense,” Harris says. “By the finale we wrap that mythology up and then kind of launch into a new direction.” What is that new direction, you ask? Well, we will just have to wait and see but Harris teases it is a whole new level. “What I’ve heard could happen [coming up story wise] is amazing and it would probably be the best season so far if we got a chance to come back.”

Until then, we can expect to see the Stitchers team really start to come into their own and mature both as individuals and as a team as the rest of the season unfolds. “We start to see these characters mature and deal with some close to home issues with their family and their friends,” he reveals. “And through that, it’s a trying time for them but they come out on top and they really do start to take ownership for their own lives. They’re kind of putting their foot down towards the end of the season and really wanting to get to the bottom of this,” Harris says.

It remains to be seen if they can handle the truth once they get it, however. According to Harris, “as much as they want to know the answers, once they find the answer out, they now have all this information that might be a little too much for them to handle going forward.”

Don’t miss tonight’s Stitchers at 9pm on Freeform — a roller coaster episode where Cameron’s work life and family life come crashing together. Kyle Harris says not only does this episode contain one of his favorite stitches they’ve done all series, but this is one of his favorite episodes as a whole.
