“Sense8” Episode Review: Reversal of Fortune

“Sense8” delivers a strong episode with a memorable finale in “What’s Going On?” Capheus meets the elusive Silas, who offers him an intriguing deal. Sun faces a moral dilemma, while Will tries to rescue Nomi from her impending surgery.

Starting with Capheus, in the fallout of his run-in with the robbers, Silas appears and offers him the medicine he needs to save his sick mother in exchange for employment. Yeah, that seems trustworthy… Anything with a too good be true feeling is, well, too good be true.

The biggest drama went to Sun, a character who so far, hasn’t had a big story. Now, she discovers that her brother is embezzling money from her father’s company- and her father wants her to take the blame for it. Between this guy and Nomi’s cruel mother, parents in this show are just evil.

Speaking of Nomi, she finally escaped from the hospital with Will’s help, in a season-long highlight set to 4 Non Blondes’s “What’s Up” which Riley is listening to. Everyone is singing along, including Wolfgang and Kala, who see each other officially, and Nomi races into her girlfriend’s loving arms. What a catchy way to end the episode.

“What’s Going On?” was one of the better episodes of “Sense8’s” first season, but of course, there’s still much more craziness to come. Still, the musical finale and thrilling escape gave this a charm viewers won’t soon forget.

Season 2 of Sense8 premieres May 5 on Netflix.
