When asking our readers who among the supporting cast of The CW’s HIT sci-fi drama The 100 they would like to see in included in our interview series for the show, Canadian actress Luisa D’Oliveira was very high on that list! OMFGTV jumped on the phone with Luisa to discuss her fan-favorite character, Emori’s history, and more!
“Emori is a bandit who has been mostly on her own or with her brother, trying to make her way because Grounder society completely rejected her,” D’Oliveira tells us. We find out in season 3, not long after we meet her character, that Emori has a bit of a disability that caused her people to cast her out.
RELATED | Fortunately, her life begins to take a turn when she meets John Murphy (Richard Harmon). “Now she’s found someone to connect to and rely on and trust, which is unheard of. We see up to this point in season 4, now she’s suddenly interacting with a whole new group of people in a way that is probably very, very new to her.”
Luisa is right — this new path seems to have thrown Emori off her groove. She’s accustomed to being alone or with one other, not having to look out for anyone else. But now she’s in a situation where she’s with a whole group of strangers on an island. Where does she go from here?
“Her role is done,” she says. D’Oliveira explains that “[Emori’s] role was to get them to the island. She had the boat, she knew her way around because she was the one always delivering tech to A.L.I E., so her role is over. Now, she’ll find things to do, ,but she’s not a vital player.”

Is Emori going to try to branch out and make new friendships while on the island? Probably not. “She’s going to try not to form bonds with any of these people,” she says. “I think deep down she wants to have a society, she wants to have a community but nothing in her knows how to do that.
“She’s terrified of it because it makes her vulnerable,” she continues. But maybe, just maybe, a part of Emori will try to make a connection with someone new. “I think that’s the war going on inside of her. But there’s a part of her that will try, so we’ll have to see.”
We see in episode 404, “A Lie Guarded,” that Emori has a very strong sense of self-preservation when she wants John to abandon his people and hide in a bunker with her. She doesn’t know or trust them enough to want to stay at the lab.

Though the old John Murphy would’ve abandoned his people in a heartbeat, this new John seems hesitant. According to Luisa, this could become an issue for them down the road. “They really trust each other a lot, so that’s really the rub. We’ll see how they weather this totally new development.”
Finally, Luisa was kind enough to give us some brief insight into tonight’s all-new episode, “We Will Rise,” and what lies ahead for the rest of the season. “This is just a race against the clock,” she previews. “Everyone is just trying to science the hell out of everything here on the island. Back on the mainland, they’re trying to politicize the hell out of everything. It’s all war and politics on that side.”
The actress really loves where the story is going this season, saying that it’s interesting to see what we’re truly capable of when the end is near. “You’re going to have people that don’t believe what’s happening or who have other interests in mind. Some people want to try to save everyone and others are just trying to save their own people, or even just themselves. This show is known for asking the tough questions, this is one of the toughest of all.”
