The mid-season finale of ABC‘s hit show Quantico did not disappoint! The episode was full of twists and turns, leading up to a shocking reveal in the final scene. This is OMFGTV‘s recap of “ODENVY”.
“You didn’t cut it, Alex.” | The episode kicks off with Alex (Priyanka Chopra) and Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) getting some much needed alone time, when they are interrupted by Nimah (Yasmine Al Massri). Alex sticks around long enough to let them know she’s feeling like she’s being left out (because she is), and Nimah reminds Ryan that he cannot tell Alex he’s been tapped by the AIC. Nimah and Ryan discuss who they believe may have been tapped as well, and when he brings up Leon (Aaron Diaz) Nimah tells him she has her own intel on him.
That intel happens to be coming from Shelby (Johanna Braddy), who is now back in the field and trying to figure out if Leon is being recruited by the AIC. She is in bed with Leon, posing as Jane, when the subject of Thanksgiving and family comes up. She reveals to Leon that she belongs to the NRA and is very pro-gun. Later, she apologizes for scaring him with the talk about guns, but tells him it is time for him to start opening up or she will be done.
Alex grabs a quick breakfast with Harry (Russell Tovey) to grumble at her lack of contact from Shelby and he begins to question her mission. He doesn’t think she has the backing from her handler anymore, which is why she hasn’t heard anything.
The lesson of the day: cover stories. The recruits must create a believable cover story to tel family and friends when they return home for the holidays, anyone who doesn’t come up with a believable story doesn’t get to go home. Oh yeah, and if anyone at home starts to ask too many questions the recruits must cut that person out of their lives entirely. Everyone is able to create a believable story except Dayana (Pearl Thusi), but that is because she does not want to go home. She later tells Lydia (Tracy Ifeachor) that she doesn’t want to go home where she will have to lie to everyone.
Alex, fed up by her lack of answers, follows Nimah to Shelby’s apartment. They tell her she needs to talk to Miranda. She knows she’s being removed from the case, and she’s not happy.
Harry spends Thanksgiving with his handler and her family and we get the feeling that MI6 is up to something. Her husband, a childhood friend, tells Harry that he believes his father-in-law is responsible for Elliott’s (Harry’s old love) death. He wants Harry to look into it, but Harry reminds him that his father-in-law is a very powerful man.
Trust Tested | AIC has been contacted by the AIC again to receive his first assignment: use a taser to kidnap a park ranger and bring him to the address they sent him. He follows their instructions, taking the man tot the address provided and tying the man up before leaving. In behind him is Leon, who picks up the gun on the table and shoots the man before leaving. Enters Dayana, who has to clean up the mess Leon’s murder made. The three recruits meet up just in time to receive video footage of them committing the crimes. The AIC will turn them in if they betray their trust.
Ryan leaves and goes to Alex, he proposes (again) and she says yes (again). After Ryan leaves Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis) comes in to offer Alex a job at FBI headquaters, but Alex turns it down to continue pursuing the AIC on her own.
Trust is broken | In the present, Alex, Harry, Leon, and Dayana make their way to the bunker to clean Dayana up. Alex uses the phone to call Shelby and tell her that there’s a biological weapon inside the perimeter that the terrorists are going to use. At headquarters, Miranda finds that General Richards (Laila Robins) will be taking over the situation, and she is not pleased. The General says Alex has 48 minutes to do something, otherwise she is sending in a drone to kill everyone.
Nimah and Raina have the most emotionally charged scene of the episode when they finally come face to face with each other. Nimah tells her sister she joined the CLF 6 months prior, with the mission to liberate America. Raina gets brutally honest when she responds to her sister. She Nimah her shadow, saying that she is the darkness and the ugliness in her, following her around. When Nimah leaves, she tells the terrorists her sister is not “one of them” and to keep her there. Then she finally shows some emotion and hits a door.
Alex thinks she knows where the weapon is being held and thinks they should all go to it, but Leon doesn’t think Dayana will make it. The two share a look that immediately raises a red-flag, but the moment is quickly over. Harry tells them they’ll need to use the air vents to avoid the guards, and Dayana and Leon stay behind. While carefully navigating their way through the vents Sebastian drops the canister they were going to use to destroy the weapon. Harry thinks Sebastian dropped it on purpose and accuses him of being “one of them”.
Alex and Sebastian find the weapon, but are surprised to see that it’s designed to kill everyone inside the building, not all of NYC. Alex knows she has to warn the FBI and sets off and they are strangely met by Harry, Leon, and Dayana. Once outside the group is surrounded by the terrorists, one of them taking Alex and leading her away when a gunshot goes off behind her. Alex fights back (of course she does) and removes her captors mask; it’s Ryan. He pushes her away and turns on an electric perimeter, warning her that if she crosses everyone will die.
What a crazy cliffhanger to leave us with! Is Ryan actually part of the CLF or is he infiltrating it? Was he the one Miranda was in contact with on the inside? And did Nimah just sentence her sister to death?!? What do you think will happen when Quantico returns? Let us know below!
Be sure to catch Quantico on it’s new day when it returns Monday January 23 at 10pm on ABC!
