Quantico Recap: “Aquiline”

quantico-206-aquiline-recap

ABC’s Quantico ended last week’s episode with Alex (Priyanka Chopra) running into Lydia (Tracy Ifeachor). This week, she has to decide if she can trust her. Back at The Farm, Alex faces a moral dilemma on the anniversary of Simon Asher’s death, how will that play into her decision making? Here is OMFGTV‘s recap of season 2 episode 6 of Quantico, “Aquiline.”

Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are | In the present, Alex has to quickly decide if Lydia can be trusted, so when she saves Alex from a terrorist Alex decides to tentatively trust her. Lydia informs her that the satellite phone contains codes to a safe full of hard drives carrying decades of classified information. Lydia says they already have the drives, they just need someone who can decrypt them: Eric Boyer. That is why the terrorists traded most of their hostages for him!

While they work together, they fill in some missing information about their time at The Farm. Alex was kicked out, Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) excelled after she left, and Owen (Blair Underwood) is in jail (most likely because of Alex). Lydia’s collar starts choking her, forcing Alex to shoot it off to save her.

When Alex and Lydia get to the drives, a remote for the collars falls out of Lydia’s pocket and Alex knows she’s been played. The two women struggle for the upper hand when Lydia gets it, she ties Alex up and sets off an alarm so the terrorists know exactly where to find Alex.

Back with the hostages, Raina (Yasmine Al Massri), Harry (Russell Tovey), and the others are trying to figure out who amongst them are terrorists. Leigh (Helene York) gets dragged out by the terrorists, interrogated, then killed with the collar in front of the other hostages. Raina is also taken and questioned, but she is returned unharmed.

Now here comes the big twist of the episode; Nimah (Yasmine Al Massri) was the one with the hostages, posing as Raina. She appears to be working with the terrorists as her sister is tied up in another room. As she removes her head scarf, revealing who she is, she gives a new piece of information. “You were right: Dayana (Pearl Thusi) may be one of them.” It appears Leigh may have died because she was a part of something else, and now the terrorists believe Dayana is a part of it too.

To Kill, or Not to Kill | Things between Shelby (Johanna Braddy) and Leon (Aaron Diaz) are really heating up! She tries lying to Nimah about it, but Nimah isn’t dumb, so she snooped and discovered the truth. Instead of being upset with Shelby, she decides this can work in their favor. She’s going to talk with Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis)  about Shelby going undercover.

In class, the recruits are taught about the hoops they must jump through in order to approve a drone strike. They are given an old case and told to decide whether they would order a drone strike or not. In that low-pressure situation they decide to order it, but what happens when they are told that it’s real? This is a real live situation going on, and the recruits must decide what to do. Eventually everyone decides to go through with it, except Alex. This is the one year anniversary of Simon Asher’s death and she doesn’t want to cause anymore bloodshed, especially if the man may be innocent.

Ryan and Harry stand by her side, but eventually Alex puts her feelings aside and orders the strike with the rest of her class. Owen tells them they made the right call, the man was guilty.

The Quantico writers sure do know how to surprise an audience! Nimah posing as Raina to get intel for the terrorists was definitely out of left-field. And Leigh’s death was both surprising and gruesome. But viewers are still left with so many unanswered questions; such as Miranda’s involvement. Is Nimah working with Miranda? And why did Lydia get Alex kicked off The Farm, and how did Alex get Owen arrested?

To find out the answers to these questions and more you will have to continue watching Quantico on ABC Sunday nights at 10!
