If the series premiere of Syfy’s chilling and unsettling new series Channel Zero: Candle Cove was enough to make you sleep with the lights on, hang on tight, because the season just gets a whole lot crazier!
As for Mike (Paul Schneider) and his mother Marla (Fiona Shaw) their relationship will start “ramp up” and get “complex.”
“We wanted to take the characters from [the original Creepy Pasta story] and expand on that relationship,” Channel Zero: Candle Cove boss Nick Antosca told the press in a conference call. “I thought it would be interesting to dig into the complex relationship this guy might have with his mother.”
“The stakes of their relationship get ramped up radically when secrets of the past come out,” he continues. “In a way the story of the entire season is the story of his relationship with Marla and the damage that was done in the past and how this mother and son deal with the past coming into the present.”
In subsequent episodes, Antosca reveals that the season will “continue to explore that relationship and both of them have to make very scary choices when they confront the past together.”
“That was one of the reasons why it was so important to get actors of this caliber and why it was such a coup to get Fiona and Paul, people who could play this complex and evolving relationship.”
Channel Zero airs Tuesdays at 9pm on Syfy.
