Tyler Posey Previews “Teen Wolf” Final Season, “Scarier” Villains & More!

Scott McCall and company went through a lot last season on MTV’s supernatural thriller Teen Wolf. Heading into the series’ sixth — and final — season, Scott’s pack “is in really good shape.” The group is even celebratory in what they’ve recently overcome. But this is Teen Wolf and they do live in Beacon Hills, so their feeling of euphoria will definitely be short lived.

PopWire had the chance to speak with the show’s titular star, Tyler Posey, where he previewed what’s to come, the new villains they’ll be facing and his work behind the camera.

They feel like they really got their shit figured out in Beacon Hills. Some time has gone by, not much has happened. They’re happy about that, they’re feeling like humans– and then once again everything goes to shit.”

That turning point is definitely due to the arrival of the group’s new antagonists — the Ghost Riders — who Posey says are very different than last season’s Dread Doctors.

“We weren’t going for the gore, the boo, or shock factor with [the Dread Doctors],” Posey explains. “It was more of an intimidating contrast between how eloquent their words were, but they were so powerful and evil. It was a cool contrast.”

“These [Ghost Riders] are definitely scarier visually,” he continues. “They’re definitely more intimidating; they’re just more interesting. It was really cool to work with horses on set. There were a lot of times where we almost got trampled– it was a lot of fun. Almost dying is always fun.”

“I love this show so much,” Posey says. “All I’ve ever wanted was to produce this show and to help it and to be even more of a part of it. I don’t want to just act in this show, I want to give this show my all, my heart and soul.”

“Being a producer just felt like the right avenue to take. I do want to make my own projects in the future, not just act for the rest of my life. So I felt like that would be a pretty good introduction to it all. So that’s why I really wanted to start producing.”

In addition to being Co-Producer, Tyler Posey will put on another hat when he makes his directorial debut, sitting in the director’s chair for an installment next season. It’s one gig Posey is “absolutely” looking forward to.

“Acting is fun and all, but film making as a whole is what I really want to do,” he shares. “I love acting but I think I would die if I had to do it my entire life — just act, you know? There’s a lot of things about it that I don’t agree with, but I compensate by doing my own shit.”

The 20-episode final season of Teen Wolf premieres November on MTV.
