The cast and creator of MTV’s hit supernatural series Teen Wolf descended upon the San Diego Comic-Con once again this year.
During their visit, PopWire had the chance to sit down and speak with Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis, where he talked about the show’s past villain, the upcoming villains and even provides an update on fan-favorite Dylan O’Brien.
With the villains of last season — The Dread Doctors — having us feeling a bit underwhelmed, it’s good to know that the terror will return, this time with the Ghost Riders.
“It’s a fun mythology that goes all the way back to the European Myth’s,” Davis says of the wolf pack’s new foes. “We caught on the Ghost Riders through teasing the Wild Hunt throughout Season 5 and we knew we were going to come back to them.”
“I think it’s a great idea and a great myth for the season,” he continues. “It’s very integral to the plot– the machinations of what happens with our relationships especially between Scott and Styles, Lydia and Styles, Malia and Styles, makes them realize what their connections between each other are. And they look really cool!”
One villain we thought looked really cool was last season’s beast. While viewers were tasked to figure out the identity of said beast, Davis reveals that hew knew it would be Mason Hewitt (Khylin Rhambo) from the very beginning.
“There was a little debate in the writers’ room, but I was like ‘It’s got to be Mason,'” he says. “I love Mason as the beast. When an actor starts to bring in new qualities to their character, you want to give them more to do. Khylin is so, so good. He’s funny, talented, smart, and he’s ready for anything. So we wanted to do it for Khylin.”
Jeff Davis also provided a brief update on the much-loved Dylan O’Brien (Styles), who was seriously injured on the set of FOX’s Maze Runner.
“He’s good. He’s recuperating. This is the first Comic-Con we’ve had without him, which is actually really sad. We wish he could’ve made it; he wishes he could’ve made it. It was a pretty big accident.”
When production on the new season resumed, they had to work around O’Brien’s injures. As for which episode we’ll see O’Brien’s return, Jeff teases, “You’ll see.”
The final season of Teen Wolf premieres this November on MTV.
